Can someone tell me the gimmick of:
Eddie Edwards Roderick Strong Davey Richards Chris Hero and Claudio?
I'm not a huge ROH fan, I go to the live events but don't really follow it. As far as I can tell from being there live, these guys (the top stars) all have the same gimmick, which is either that they have no gimmick or that they're a douchebag. So I guess I'm asking is, do these guys have characters that make them different, and what are they?

none of them really have a gimmick. Hero used to be the "Number One Athlete in Ring of Honor" and would do a bunch of flips and showboating, and Castagnoli the Most Money Making match and was sort of a cross between IRS and Ted DiBiase, then he was was Very European and basically do whatever, but now they're just big and pissed off.

Eddie Edwards - one half of the American Wolves. Really just a babyface champion, out to prove why he deserves the ROH World title. Roderick Strong - currently the top prospect in Truth Martini's House of Truth, also wants to be seen as the best in the world. Davey Richards - the other half of the Wolves. Once again...out to prove he's the best in the world Chris Hero - one half of the Kings of Wrestling. Managed by Shane Hagadorn and Sara del Rey. Just a heel, really. Claudio Castagnoli - other half of KoW. Managed by the same two people. Hailing from Switzerland, while not doing this lately, would proclaim himself as 'Very European' and would see himself as better than Americans

Well, Claudio used to be "Very European" and Hero used to be billed as "From Metropolis" while wearing a Superman-like insignia. Richards and Edwards are the "American Wolves" of course and will work that appellation into promos sometimes (Catchphrase: "The hunt is on!"), although whether that qualifies as a gimmick is up to you. Roderick is just Roderick.
IMO, gimmicks might help, but aren't necessary. Having a personality is what's important as far as promos are concerned.
Chris Jericho as a heel was pretty much just a condescending jerkass.
HHH is a guy who acts sophomoric sometimes and intense other times, but he doesn't have a real gimmick any more. He's just a guy who wears tights, cuts promos, and wrestles. (And as a guy who used to mark for him during the '90s, I really prefer that to his "blue blood snob" gimmick.)
Randy Orton's personality is that of a sociopath; you can't really call the whole snake thing a gimmick since it just amounts to a few mannerisms during his matches, instead of him being the next Jake Roberts or him actually believing that he's part snake or something like that.
Edge, during the PG Era and before his retirement, was just Edge. They may have announced him as the "Rated R Superstar", but he couldn't actually do anything really shocking aside from inflicting serious violence on people. Yet he was still awesome.
Although I haven't bothered to watch Smackdown in a long time, from all reports it seems that Christian is still just Christian. Which is also awesome.
The Miz cuts promos and has a catchphrase, and that's about the extent of his gimmick.
Of course, there are also plenty of guys in WWE with gimmicks. (Del Rio, Rhodes, DiBiase when he was getting pushed and carrying around the Million Dollar Belt, Goldust if they're still using him, Undertaker, Kane, Punk when they play up his being straight edge, etc.) And they're good at catching fans' interest if done right. But after you catch that initial interest, whether you succeed or not depends on three things: whether you can cut good promos, wrestle entertaining matches, and be given enough time by the promotion to exhibit both of the above skills.
The fact that the WWE and World Heavyweight champions going into WM27 were Miz and Edge says a lot.

With the exception of Hero and Castagnoli, their gimmicks seem to be being boring, ESPECIALLY Strong.

Did you just call Davey Richards boring? Really? Really? Really? Yes. The dude has all the personality of Chris Benoit circa 1994(ie: A cardboard box).

Usually it's either because he's boring to watch in the ring or because he's being booked to look too unstoppable.

Its just everybody in ROH has the same "I'm a serious wrestler that wants to win belts and matches. WIN WIN WIN!" that bores me to tears. Its okay to have one Benoit, because his character stood out as being the only No Gimmick Needed wrestler. But to have a whole roster full of them is just boring.

Like we learned with Lance "Vance Archer" Hoyt, "intensity" is not a gimmick, and it doesn't stop you from being dull as dishwater.
