Disclaimer: I don't watch WWE, I just keep abreast with enough of what's going on so moderating in this section isn't too confusing.
However, there's all this buzz now about Punk doing something like he did in ROH in 2005. For the uninformed, CM Punk, a babyface in ROH at the time, but formerly one of the biggest heels in the company, announces he's going to WWE, but in his farewell match gets a World Title shot. With the crowd (in New Jersey, a place where the crowd was always split for Punk) completely behind him, Punk wins the belt...and immediately turns on ROH, threatening to take the belt to WWE, holding ROH hostage for the whole summer.
So, could something like this be done, or even improved upon, on the bigger stage of WWE? Here's my rough idea:
CM Punk wins the WWE Championship.
CM Punk goes through with his promise: he vanishes from WWE television, taking the WWE title with him.
Come Raw, there's an air of unease; it's not clear if Punk is completely gone yet, or if he's simply late to the show...is he really going through with his threat?
Time passes, and the answer is an emphatic "YES". Punk is nowhere to be seen and not heard from for at least two weeks, and the announcers, officials, and the wrestlers are getting incredibly antsy. Punk is the topic of discussion everywhere, because the disappearance of the WWE title has wide reaching implications.
Later on, those implications start becoming clear. Whomever the IC or US champion is starts proclaiming that, with the loss of the WWE title, he's now the greatest champion going. He dares anyone to prove otherwise.
Lower card wrestlers start banding together or striking out on their own to take advantage of the chaos, taking the fight to established stars and main eventers, figuring that with the turmoil the company is in they can work their way up, as the typical marker separating them from the stars is now gone.
A little while later, something odd happens: videos are sent to Raw, and they're from CM Punk.
Punk is...well, nobody knows where he is. The videos are garbled, mixed, almost as if they've been made that way intentionally to confuse the WWE and the audience.
It turns out Punk is leaving clues. Punk, in an odd way, wants to be found...but it can't just be by anybody.
Punk is laying out a challenge, a mystery: if any one wrestler on the roster can unravel the clues in the videos and overcome the challenge Punk later sends them, they, and they alone, will be granted a title shot.
Now the turmoil of the WWE has gone overload. People are scrambling to unravel the mystery, lower card guys are still causing trouble to get noticed, the US/IC champ is riding on an egotistical high, etc.
A hero does step up though: I won't say who, because I can't determine who'd be best (told you I don't watch ), but whomever it is should be unexpected, a younger babyface who stands to gain a lot by being the man to survive "The Trials of CM Punk".
This is a very rough skeleton I just came up with off the top of my head, but would anybody add/change/do something completely different?
By the by, yeah, I know, the whole idea is probably moot because
