How many times have Shawn Michaels and The Rock wrestled one another, especially between 2002 and 2004?

To my knowledge, theyve never even been in the same ring.

Was there not heat between the two at one point? I recall reading that Rocky categorically stated that he had no interest whatsoever in wrestling HBK.

I read the same I think, but he has since stated (2008) that he wanted to go toe-to-toe with him. Alas, he didn't feel the need to hurry his ass back in the ring before HBK hung up his boots.

I really hope that something in Shawn ignites for ONE LAST MATCH, WrestleMania 29. To me its the last do-able WrestleMania "Dream Match".

They were in the same ring quite a few times, but never had a match.
As I remember it, Rock was firmly in the Bret camp in '97 and wasn't interested in working with Michaels.

One of the weeks before Summerslam 2002 they were hyping Rock vs Brock and HBK vs HHH by having a Rock vs HHH match on Raw. In which both Brock and HBK interupted the match to go after their Summerslam opponents. Thats one of the only times I can remember them being in the same ring/segment.
Rock/HBK is still one of my all time dream matches though.

HE was never really in a position to work with Michaels even if he wanted to. By the time Rock became big enough, Shawn was gone. By the time Shawn came back, The Rock was gone.

There was actually not a lot of time when they could have fought each other.
Here is a timeline I just made which shows the history of Shawn and The Rock's time together in WWE.
I. The Rock debuted in November 1996 as a bayface. Shawn Michaels was also a babyface at this time.
II. Shawn Michaels lost his smile in February 1997 and was out until about June 1997.
III. Between June 1997 and September of 1997, Shawn Michaels was a babyface and The Rock was a heel. This would have been the best time for them to have had some kind of match before Shawn's back injury. The Rock joined the Nation after King of the Ring and Michaels was involved with Hart Foundation and Undertaker.
IV. Shawn turned heel in September when he, Hunter, Chyna, and Rude founded DX. The interference at Ground Zero and especially at One Night Only really solidified Shawn as a heel in my opinion.
V. From September 1997 to January 1998, Shawn and The Rock were both heels and unlikely to face each other.
VI. Shawn injures his back in January 1998 and wrestles one more match at Mania before returning in 2002.
VII. Shawn makes his return to the ring in August 2002. The Rock loses his title to Brock Lesnar that same night. Just as Shawn returns, The Rock takes time off until January 2003.
VIII. The Rock returns in 2003 to wrestle Hogan again, Austin one last time at Mania, and to put over Bill Goldberg at Backlash. The Rock takes another long break after this relatively short return. Shawn Michaels was feuding with Chris Jericho at this time. This short span of months would probably have been the best opportunity for them to have a match as Shawn was a babyface and The Rock was a heel.
IX. The Rock makes very occasional appearances, but does not have another match until WrestleMania XX in a handicap tag team match with Mick Foley against Batista, Ric Flair, and Randy Orton. This is the final time the Rock has competed.
X. Shawn Michaels retires in March 2010.
XI. The Rock returns in February, 2011 and makes an appearance at WrestleMania XVII. He accepts John Cena's challenge the next night to wrestle in a match at WrestleMania XXVIII in Miami.

HBK didn't think Rock would amount to anything and didn't want matches against him, supposedly he had issues with Rock going over HHH for the IC belt way back when. Rock held a grudge and didn't want to do the match HBK wanted yrs later.

I've read stuff about how HBK was anything but nice towards grandma or something, and that Rocky hasn't been willing to work with HBK since. It might just be newz, however.

Heartbreakingly they have never wrestled. Sometimes I try to put both of their official DVD's into my player at once to see if I can trick them. It hasn't worked yet. However I did manage to get it to work once before and let me tell you The Godbrothers is a hell of a film. Will Ferrell and John C Reilly in the mafia = WIN!

Yeah, apparently HBK was just a massive douche to Rocky when he came into the company, leading to bad blood from Rock's side for years. I have also heard a rumour, like someone else mentioned, that HBK did or said something incredibly disrespectful to either Rock's dad or his Grandma and that's a big part of the reason there was heat between the 2. No idea if that's true at all tho

Wasn't there some kind of mini stable feud going on with The Nation, The Harts, and DX and HBK did a semi-racist promo? That could've been an opening for a match on RAW I think.

You may be right. The Nation was primarily feuding with Los Boricuas and D.O.A., as well as Ahmed Johnson, LOD, and Shamrock. However, I do remember some tension between the Hart Foundation and the Nation because Faarooq and Owen Hart were the final two men in the Intercontinental Championship tournament after Stone Cold had to give up the title after his neck injury. DX would have been a very new faction at that time, but they were very much at odds with the Hart Foundation.
I really don't remember too much friction between the Nation and DX until 1998 when Triple H, X-Pac, and the New Age Outlaws feuded with The Rock and Owen's Nation.
The time period we're talking about would have been the most likely time that they would have worked in the same match as both were full-time wrestlers. However, it wouldn't have meant as much then because The Rock had not become a big star yet.
