John Cena is certainly a controversial wrestler. His fanbase is split between the kids/women (cheers) and men (boos). It's been like this since the start of Cena's main event run in 2005.
Many fans state that it is his stale babyface character that causes them to boo him. But is that because of Cena himself or creative? Cena might not be able to make the character work, or maybe creative really is booking him as the PG superhero kids want him to be.
So whose fault is it? John Cena or the creative team?

I voted "neither", but that's because I like his character. Putting aside his occasional "douche moments", the idea of a morally upright, unironic face in the post-Austin era is awesome to me.
But that said, like as was pointed out, that doesn't mean he needs to be booked as a "monster" and run roughshod over everyone. I take issue with his occasionally unchallenged dominance more than his on-screen persona.

Creative. The man has been booked to become a monster, and during times that he has been booed out the building, they have ignored it. Many people have been thrown at the wayside to make way for him. It isnt like he has the asskicking antihero factor that allowed Austin the same luxury. He is treated like this ultimate good guy who every face likes and respects. Its like he is booking himself with the way his character is so revered by everyone, even though its obviously not the case.
That being said, he is the only real SUPERSTAR the WWE has on the active roster, and a clean win over Cena can elevate ANYBODY.

This is a tough one to judge. Some aspects of Cena may not work, but damn. He's THE guy in wrestling right now. It's hard to say anybody is "at fault" for however he may act, as how he acts makes him such a draw to his demo.

None. He's written to appeal to a certain sector of fans and does that better than could be expected.

I'm confused as to what the "fault" is.
The half boos stuff is his legacy now. Thats what he has that no other top name in history has, and at this point it kinda works.

I picked creative. For all the success he's had, Cena the man seems to lack any trace of the ego of Hogan, Nash, HHH, pre-injury HBK, etc. He seems more than happy to step out of the limelight on the rare occasions management allow that to happen.

Creative, especially whoever keeps giving him stuff like "NexSucks" and "CM Sucks" to say.

I agree with this. Although I blame creative for his cheesy jokes, as I know he's funnier than that when allowed to be (and yes, you can still be funny whilst being kid friendly).

I'm pretty sure that's not what they were going for, that's what we're trying to figure out who's fault it is. I'd say creative. He sells merchandise and appeals to kids and all that good stuff, but his character doesn't have to be this stale piece of crap. The guy is good, just tweak the character some, unless it's something really drastic it won't kill his appeal.

Creative. Cena used to have a character that appealed to all demos, now it primarily appeals to kids...

I'm pretty sure that's not what they were going for, that's what we're trying to figure out who's fault it is. They've purposefully booked him into those situations before. And its gone on long enough that its habit. It was happening way before the PG stuff, so thats not the reason like everyone seems to think. At first they tried to halt it but its certainly become part of the "Cena match atmosphere". I doubt a heel turn or character change will ever change that.

I'd say neither.
The reason is because, Cena has everyone eating out of the palm of his hand. It doesn't matter if people boo him or cheer him, Cena always gets a loud reaction. The crowd could be dead all night, but during a Cena match, everyone gets into it. If people did nothing there would be a bigger problem, but they always give Cena a big reaction.

Ignoring the "there's absolutely nothing wrong with John Cena at all" posts before and inevitably after, I'm saying Creative.
Cena's probably the most self-aware guy in wrestling right now, and he's knows that a lot of the stuff he's given is dreck, mostly.
Unless most of the dreck is his stuff, and if that's the case.....>.<

Cena is the face of the company, their superhero. Being stale usually comes with the territory.
And as for the booing, that is to Cena what the "You suck" chants are to Angle.

Both.
Cena's the top guy, he could step up and make changes or want to go in a certain direction or even tell whoever that no selling is terrible. So I do fault him as well as creative.

Creative - the nexus/fired debacle Cena - for doing things like re-naming his moves None - there’s not much wrong with him Both - they both could work together to stop the stupid decisions/lines
I went for none

Agreed with Cronant and Kinetico. At this point, the boos are part of what makes Cena who he is. Hogan was the quintessential superhero, HBK was the rockstar, and Austin was the badass anti-hero that defined the nineties. Now you have Cena, a man who people love to hate and, some would admit, hate to love; he practically identifies his era just as much as Austin identified his because like so many other notable names of today, Cena elicits reactions from everybody- good or bad, but seemingly never indifferent.
