Punk is getting a pretty good push but obviously not enough. And Barrett is an afterthought. Why are these not the very top guys on the brand? In many ways just as talented and with the ability of anyone else in the company right now including Cena and Orton.
Is there something wrong with consistently pushing the younger talented guys like these and giving the same old a rest for a while?
It truly must be horribly political in the WWE. It seems like when anyone else not named ORton or Cena get a push and get a head of steam they knock them backwards and they have to start all over

Is isn't that a big reason why hes leaving? Hes another guy with more talent then anyone else on the roster.. Right now they are probably just giving him a "here will make your relevant for now so you don't leave and then we will knock you right back to no mans land" push

His status is still pure speculation at this point. Punk isn't main eventing because they want R-Truth as the heel this PPV.
What happens next is anyone's guess.

Punk is one of the top guys right now. He just pinned Cena with his finisher this week on Raw. Why you think he's getting the push is irrelevent, the guy is consistantly over and consistantly a threat.

However there's little denying that Barrett's being wasted where he is right now.

Punk's one of those people where no matter WHAT he'd be given, it's "Not Enough".
If he was given a HHH-style Reign of Terror, it might make a large percentage of smarks happy, some people would STILL say he's being wasted.
And if not him, someone ELSE would be wasted (Hi, Dolph Ziggler).

Wade Barrett is tall but able to keep up in the ring, he just has a bad feel about him, he is promo gold and everyone now knows who he is. Surely if WWE could create a wrestler and bring him to life, it would be Wade Barrett?
I am not saying a world title run at the moment and he is IC champ after all, but they just seem to have him...... there.
It's weird.

Punk is getting crapped on? You know, I get that Punk just beat the WWE champion and all that (even though it was not clean and he would never beat him totally clean) and he's not an after thought or something, but he's not where he should be. Like him or not, CM Punk is the best all around wrestler in the WWE right now. And how can you not see that? He has amazing charisma, he's perfect on the mic, he has a great look and presence, and he's even GOOD IN THE RING! He's actually GREAT in the ring. And he's tall, which is of course extremely important. Yet he's held the second tier world title three times in three crappy reigns. He hasn't won a PPV match in more than a year (look it up) and I think the last feud he won was against Hardy because he left the company. CM Punk is a JTTS and it's obvious. I'm not just trying to give a typical IWC rant, but CM Punk deserves WAY more and it's sad. I like Daniel Bryan more than Punk, but I don't think he deserves more than the IC Title at the moment because he's just not that over yet and isn't nearly as good all around as Punk is. Cliffnotes: Punk deserves more, but of course, because of the IWC self hatred, this is a horrible statement that no one should ever make.

Eh, I see nothing special in Wade Barrett. He can talk, he's decent in the ring but I don't see him main eventing Wrestlemania.

CM Punk is about average height for men around the world.
He isn't tall in the slightest. He gives an impression of being smaller in WWE because the roster are freaks.

Punk's fanbase likely works against him on this, too. Not in the "I'M VINCE MCMAHON AND I HATE INTERNET FANS!!!" way that most would likely think, but more in the "We refuse to see him as a WWE guy, he's just repping RoH in WWE!" sense. WWE's not going to let a guy that the fanbase refuses to see as "WWE" be the single most dominant wrestler in the company.

Yeah, there are some areas where he's misused, buts its not to the point of it being 'sad'. He's always got something going on, always is put over as a threat, and has had multiple title reigns, which I don't even consider crappy. Seriously, the "he's held the second tier world title with 3 crappy reigns" comment is a joke. Was that title second tier when HHH had it all those years? Didn't Punk and Jeff main event PPVs OVER Cena/Orton and Cena/HHH/Orton? And lastly, he's a heel, and has been one for the last 2 years. The show isn't going to revolve around him, that was a mistake they made with HHH.

My question is what could WWE realistically do with Punk that would make you happy?

Because CM Punk's talents are best suited to putting over guys who might not have his in-ring expertise but who stand a better chance of connecting with mainstream audiences and growing into big draws?
Being a "good worker" as smarkdom defines it has virtually nothing to do with being able to generate the sort of magnetism that gets casual fans to plunk down money to see a guy.
And Barrett... the above argument doesn't even apply to Barrett, since he's a thoroughly mediocre performer in every regard.

I see no proof of Orton or even Truth ( this far) connecting with any type of mainstream audience though.. In fact, outside of Cena who really IS connecting with the mainstream? Those guys are few and far between.
I suppose you can say Miz but to a much lesser extent

I'm actually fine where Punk is right now. While he may not be getting any title shots, he's still constantly being featured in major angles. And in my opinion they're usually more interesting than what's going on in the main event scene.
And on Barrett. I don't think he's being crapped on at all. I think WWE is fully aware of the potential Barrett has. They just don't want to push him straight to the moon right away, like many people seem to want. Also it wouldn't have made much sense for Barrett to go from the failing leader of a stable that couldn't do anything on his own, to Heavyweight Champion, in such a short time. And to add, while I'm a big Barrett fan, I wouldn't trade the current feud with Christian and Orton with his main event push.
