It seems he's on Zigglers' level now where he's not relevant anymore when he was months back. It just seems like he's "there", but he's not doing anything anymore. Hopefully he gets pushed before he becomes another MVP.

He's in a feud for the IC belt. And not a "Just let them keep having matches" Kofi/Dolph type thing, and actual, storyline feud.
I think he's fine. Yeah he's not where he was during the height of the Nexus deal, but that wasn't going to last forever. It established him as a solid member of the roster though.

He's the Intercontinental Champion. The thing is, he's like Sheamus in that he debuted on Raw as a main eventer, and he can only go down from there.

I suppose, but lets be realistic the IC title don't mean anything anymore. It hasn't felt like an important title in years. I think Barrett should have stayed at least in the main event scene/upper mid card instead of being jobbed out in pointless matches all the time.

If Wade had won the WWE title from the get go, where does he go from there? Not everyone can be in the main event at the same time.

He's the IC Champ during an era where titles, especially secondary titles, mean nothing and don't draw in any interest. Fans don't seem to care much when the lower titles change hands any more. Title changes used to mean something and the fans would react to it. It's a shameful thing.... ...lobster head...the titles change but the crowd's still dead...
I bet a great portion of the regular audience at a show couldn't tell you who all of the current champs were. I suspect they would know Orton and Cena, but struggle to name the other champs.

The man's only been in the WWE a year. He's IC champion, and is always involved in a storyline of some sort. Sometimes I think WWE spoils it's fans too much when a rookie is pushed hard right out of the gate. Then when he gets cycled though like nearly every main eventer does, fans will constantly complain because nothings good enough.

It just seems like WWE goes through a cycle of heating people up and then cooling them off. It happened with Kofi, Drew, Dolph, Swagger, Sheamus, and now Wade Barrett. Some of these people are in okay shape now, but some of them look really lost in the shuffle with not much going for them.

I don't think people realize that WWE has almost never had THIS many borderline main eventers/up and comers at the same time. There are almost a dozen guys people think should be in the main event.
In order for one guy to move up, someone has to scale back.

But it's that type of booking that makes people not care about someone anymore. Ziggler was pushed fine for awhile, now noone cares about him anymore because he's been used horribly for the past 6 months. If he got released tomorrow most of the audience wouldn't care at this point. You have to at least book someone in a way for people to think their at least some type of a threat to their opponent. Barrett has been made to look incredibly weak lately. I liked The Corre, but the way they were booked for most of their run was terrible.

Now Kofi is in random matches noone cares about, Drew is usually only on Superstars, & Dolph is just hanging around not doing much at all. Swagger at least was highly involved with the Lawler/Cole storyline though, & Sheamus is involved in the Christian/Orton title fued.

About The Corre, well it seems like that run is over so things may improve for Barrett. And on Barrett looking unimportant,I think it's more so that the IC title has been booked badly rather than the way Barrett's been booked. If the winning the IC title was more of a big deal, then people would see Barrett's current push differently.

And to add something that will probably be seen as controversial thinking...
I don't think Barrett was ever meant to be seen as a top guy right from the start. Sure he was involved in the major Raw storyline for a few months, but has he ever shown that he can hang on his own with main eventers. I think what WWE is trying to make Barrett a top guy by slowly having him go solo and prove himself as a guy that can get things done on his own, by moving him from a big group like the Nexus, to a smaller one like the Corre, to now going on his own. And maybe this kind of booking hasn't translated well with the fans.

The problem is they made him the number 1 heel, and then just pulled the rug out. He fell so far, so quickly that it really damaged him. Slabriel just left the Nexus, Barrett was booted out badly. And then he shows up on Smackdown randomly after just giving up on the Nexus.
The "push now, then drop later" approach DOES NOT WORK. It hurts everyone who has been subjected to it.

I don't think thats the case as much as its an exaggeration every time "Wrestler X" isn't in a world title match. At least the last few months it seems that way.
Case in point Wade Barrett. Or Del Rio. Or CM Punk. All have had legit storylines not involving the title. All are typically treated as big deals doing so. But apparently they're being held back because they aren't competing for the top title.

You can't honestly tell me that they pushed Barrett so hard at first solely to later on tell the audience that he actually wasn't really that much of a threat. That would be like them pushing Brock Lesnar to the moon for a few weeks only to have the WWE Champion pin him clean with barely any effort or Goldberg winning ten matches in a row and then getting squashed before he could get any real momentum by Hollywood Hogan. Honestly if you're going to push someone as a main eventer than they should be ready to be and be booked as a potential main eventer. Otherwise it just makes them look like nothing more than a fluke and good luck getting them over to that degree again afterwards.

The difference between Lesnar and Barrett was Lesnar was brought in as a monster on his own. Barrett was in a 7 man group. He needed all members of Nexus to do achieve anything, and even with Nexus he sometimes failed. You need time to build up Barrett as a main eventer because I wouldn't make sense to have a guy who couldn't even win the title with all the help in the world to competing for the title all on his own.
