This made me L :oL
From JR's blog:
"Kevin Nash told us at the taping of the WWE Legends Roundtable last week that years ago when I mentioned on Raw one Monday night that I was going to bring back 'Diesel and Razor' next week, that WCW attorneys freaked out because Nash and Hall had only signed 'deal memos' and not their final contracts.
To expedite the final, final contract signing WCW, to make sure that 'Razor and Diesel' wouldn't appear on Monday Night Raw, apparently threw another $400K to each guy to get the deal done ASAP which happened in a sports bar inside the CNN Center. Then, TBS flew the two men home in a private jet. Yep...WCW legal beagles actually believed what 'Good Ol J.R.' said while in TV mode and they quickly spend another $800K of their company's money."

That's brilliant. Granted, they probably made it back at least twice over in the next year from Nash and Hall coming in to be the NWO, but still, what a buncha maroons.

Once again proving why WCW was the stupidest wrestling promotion in history. TNA is trying to give them a run for their *ahem* money.

When did JR say that? Was that when they had the fake Diesel and fake Razor?

To be fair, given the big plans they had for Hall and Nash, I can see why they'd take the extra precautions.

Also, WCW was nothing more than a blip in the pan to Ted Turner, while TNA is raised almost entirely on family funds and Spike TV.

Also, WCW was nothing more than a blip in the pan to Ted Turner, while TNA is raised almost entirely on family funds and Spike TV. This is a bit of a misnomer. TNA started out as a family business that were bought by the Carters and are actually controlled by an energy corporation (Panda Energy). Spike didn't get involved until 2005, well after Panda held the controlling interest (2002). And while WCW was owned by gajillionaire Turner, the birth of WCW can be traced back to the southern family-owned territories like JCW. The flipside of the coin is actually that TNA were bought out by a much smaller conglomerate than Turner. The parallels otherwise between TNA and WCW are numerous.

I actually went to that sports bar at the CNN Center on Wrestlemania weekend. Makes me wish I knew that tidbit beforehand.

This doesn't surprise me one bit.
This is the same company that paid The Iron Sheik $350,000 a year from 89 to 94 to sit a home and do nothing hell Sheik even worked for the WWE again back in 91 while WCW were still paying him for god's sake.

Are you effing serious? I never heard that one. I did hear they paid Lanny Poffo 150k a year for years and never used him once. And they paid Master P's henchman Swoll 400k a year even though he was completely worthless. This was the same year they refused to give Jericho the modest raise he wanted.

This is funny, and I miss WCW both for the lolz and the occasionally consistent good wrestling, but I don't see how any of this has anything to do with TNA.
