Although it seems we all have our own ideas for the exact dates they each started and ended, most fans tend to be in agreement that you can organize WWE history in the following eras:
WWWF The Golden Era/Rock & Wrestling/Hulkamania The New Generation The Attitude Era The Invasion The Post-War Era/Triple H Reign of Terror WWE Universe Era/John Cena Era/PG Era
Is it safe to say that we seem to be entering a new era of WWE history? CM Punk's promo, him leaving with the belt, and Triple H replacing Vince McMahon all seem to be leading the company in a new direction.
Thoughts? Am I jumping the gun?

A kayfabe new chairman is a MAJOR on-screen change so if this is a long-term move I can see this being the beginning of a new era yes.

I think it's too early to tell...in six months, we should know. Don't forget, in another month Cena could be WWE champion, Triple H makes himself a wrestler/owner, and Stephanie McMahon returns on camera.

Depending on how the next few weeks go, I say that could be a possibility. I'd have to see some evolution in the way storylines are built in more than one case before jumping to that conclusion.

I hope it means a new WWE Title, New Logos, and all that stuff to really cement in the fact it's a new era.

It's the start of the Supreme Chairman Triple H era. There should be a wrestling war in ten years that leads to the Emperor Triple H era.

Is it safe to say that we seem to be entering a new era of WWE history? CM Punk's promo, him leaving with the belt, and Triple H replacing Vince McMahon all seem to be leading the company in a new direction. Nexus was supposed to be leading the company in a new direction this time last year; it snapped back to the status quo a few months later. Still, we've been gradually transitioning into something new for a while now, what with the departures of main event mainstays Michaels/Batista/Edge and the de facto retirements of Undertaker and HHH. It probably won't be for a few more years until we're able to look back at this period and say when and where the new era began, or what set it off.

It's the sequel to the McMahon-Helmsley era.

I think that the end of tonight's show really pointed toward that - I don't understand the problem with it, Punk couldn't have been on the show, and Vince getting fired was fun.

Also I have a gut feeling we're getting a new WWE Title as well.

Oh you can see the many, many changes...
- The roster is the youngest its been in a long, long time.
- The roster is the most international its ever been.
- Although the last couple weeks have taken away from that, the show is now focused on wrestling over soap opera.
- In the last month, WWE has ackowledged the rest of the industry more than it did since the end of the Monday Night Wars, when they actively had business relationships with other promotions.
- WWE uses Twitter to further storylines, in effect, wrestlers are now cutting promos on there. And WWE is doing that because they have changed their mind about the number of fans that are on the internet following this stuff.
- Through the internet and the on-screen presentation, they are introducing a new kayfabe where the matches are still fixed, but what happens around the matches is presented to be real, and sometimes, even during matches, that guys go too far. They are using Jerry Jarrett's old view on preserving kayfabe, they are telling you the truth about what's happening a lot of the time so when they start working you, you still think it's real.
Exciting times to be a fan. I'm looking for a topic to share my views on the night's storyline so I won't share those here, but yes, exciting exciting times.

CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Christian, Jim Ross AND Zack Ryder? Maybe this new era won't be so bad after all...

bringing Punk so quick makes me wonder, but with the last 3 weeks, plus Cult of Personality plus JR makes me think wrestling for the real fan is coming back
