Since my definition of "another Punk situation" would mean pushing a guy as a prominent upper-midcarder with the potential to work in main events from day one and continuously involved him in relatively high-profile feuds throughout his WWE tenure, then I'd say no, the booking of Kofi Kingston is not "another punk situation". explain please because him and punk were the most underrated tag champs ever seen Two randomly thrown together guys who held the tag titles for about a week and a half are the most underrated champs ever?

Give him a shot at being a heel, I think as a face he has run his course. AgreeD

...How in the world does Kofi not have charisma? I think people conflate "charisma" with "Snarky, meme-spouting bastard" these days.

Maybe if he got some charisma he'd be in a better position miz has no charisma, neither does sheamus, khali, edge and batista. see that pattern? All those guys have charisma except Khali, who's such a spectacle its almost like he does.

...How in the world does Kofi not have charisma? Because since 1998 charisma allegedly equals screaming your catchphrase into a microphone. Since Kofi doesn't have one, he has no charisma. Or something... {Spoiler}Boop, boop, boop.

I don't think he should be at world champion level but I think he should be booked to be a more interesting midcarder!

Kofi needs a personality first. For the past three years he has been basically seen as a smiling Jamaican/Ghana guy who does a bunch of cool moves. The only time he came close to having a personality was when he was feuding with Orton and destroying his car. If he doesn't get a personality soon he'll be stuck as a midcarder forever who'll be relied on to have good matches and put over upcoming new heels which really isn't a bad position. It basically means stable job security and years of paying paycheques.

I completely forgot that Kofi and Punk were tag champs. They didn't really do anything memorable.
I also really don't see how Kofi and Punk's roles could be equated.

Kofi had to speak on NXT Season 2 and he didn't do a good job of it. If I'd point to anything that shows Kofi not being that great on the mic, it's that. He also ruined Michael McGillicutty's career before it even started by calling his fans the McGillibuddies

I'd not say so, Punk was always near about the top of whichever show he was on. Kofi hasn't been. I think Kofi is decent enough at getting the crowd into matches in the ring but whilst he's an alright promo guy he does need to do something to make himself stand out when he's not in a match.
I think he may be one of those guys who lives in the midcard and maybe one day will get a quick title run as a transitional champ. Other guys just happen to be more over than him, no shame in that at all, but his character needs re-invigorating before he can be thought of as anything other than a permanent midcarder. I think his moveset needs more to it as well, been the same for 3+ years now.

Or something... {Spoiler}Boop, boop, boop. When they gave him a mic on NXT 2, he didn't do well at all with it. He wasn't McGillicutty bad, but he still wasn't great. It's not about screaming catchphrases into microphones.

Kofi just annoys me. His mismatched ugly ring attire annoys me, his boom boom boom annoys me, that leg drop with the stupid boom dance annoys me and his punches were he feels the need to leap into the air to deliver them annoy me.
I will admit though that he is capable of some really nice stuff but on the whole I just find him too annoying.

Kofi has done everything there is to do in the midcard and deserves to be elevated - particularly when there's a serious shortage of faces people care about and he's one of the few - but I can kind of see the wait, given he's only been wrestling for about six years. Kofi had to speak on NXT Season 2 and he didn't do a good job of it. If I'd point to anything that shows Kofi not being that great on the mic, it's that. He also ruined Michael McGillicutty's career before it even started by calling his fans the McGillibuddies That implies McGillicutty had a career to ruin. Frankly, I'm kind of stunned that he's still employed.
