I think it'd be rather shortsighted, since you could advertise say, Punk/HHH as a big match, and then have Taker going 20/0 as a whole other attraction. Specifically say it'll be the last time we ever see the Undertaker wrestle, win or loss. That's a guaranteed draw right there.

Punk shouldn't end the streak. No one should end the streak. I can't image anything killing a WM crowd worse that seeing UT lose his signature, career-defining match.
But I'm all for Punk vs. Triple H for the title next year. If they finally see Punk as "the guy", and recognize that he could be the person to introduce the product to a brand new fanbase and finally move the company into the future, who better for him to battle than the "last man standing" of the Attitude Era.
There's such amazing contrast between the two of them, and so much rich storytelling potential. Hunter is the big, jacked up political master, the modern wrestler with his heart belonging to the old-school. Punk is the guy with the normal build, tatted-up body and no BS straight shooting spirit. It's the guy who manipulated his way to the top of the wrestling industry vs. the "King of the Indies", who rewrote the rulebook and forced his way to the top through unwavering drive and unrivaled ballsiness. It's the transition of pro wrestling from the smoke-filled backroom "Good Ole' Boys Club" or yore to a new era driven by alternative culture, social media and grassroots fan support.
Do I think WWE would actually go through with such a long, thoughtful, meaningful build? Probably not, but perhaps they're beginning to realize, with Punk, Bryan and Zack Ryder, that they have to let the fans determine the next generation of superstars. The days of force-feeding cartoon characters to a captive audience is over.

"alternative culture, social media and grassroots fan support." does this generate the most $ though is the real question...
