...let Punk show up at an ROH show with the belt. For real.
We're in uncharted waters here, and I can't help but feeling that just having him off TV with the belt isn't the most impactful way to take advantage of this monumental situation. The way I see it, they should have Punk EVERYWHERE, promoting himself as the WWE champion - running around with the belt like he did after winning it (see the pics on TMZ) and posting pictures of it in his fridge, doing interviews with media outlets, stirring up s**t...and why not actually do the unthinkable and have him show up to an ROH show with the belt and cut his "victory" promo for an adoring crowd? Give Triple H a reason why he NEEDS to bring him back.
This could be such a huge angle, but the important thing is to keep Punk visible - not just visible but ubiquitous, even - whie keeping him OFF WWE TV, and then have his return (with the belt) be a HUGE deal.

That would be a good idea but it most likely won't happen.

Punk popping up "randomly" could be clever as well as practical, but an ROH tie-in would be a serious bitch to organize as well as keep relatively under wraps.

I'm 67% sure this will happen.
They were mentioned in his promo and much of that was carefully constructed, Laurinaitis appeared on TV, he did leave with the belt, the board agreed about Vince and the doofus is in charge. He said those things for a reason so it’s possible the same applies to RoH.
Of course he also mentioned Heyman and Brock and I don’t expect to see them any time soon.

The funny thing is, there were reports immediately after Punk's promo of negotiations with Brock and Heyman, so you never know.

I actually think he will make an appearence in another fed, either ROH or over in Japan with the belt. It seems the logical way to progress the storyline whilst keeping Punk off WWE tv for a few months.

On paper, that is a brilliant idea. But it's execution would come with too much risk. What's to stop some independent wrestler from trying to legitimately injure the WWE Champion, CM Punk, to make a name for himself. As great as this storyline is, it would suck for it to come to an abrupt end because some indy jerk went into business for himself and broke Punk's leg.

Jerry Lawler said on commentary last night WWE stripped Punk of the title.
He has no title to take anywhere apparently.

The way I see it, he wouldn't be wrestling; there would be a pause in the show, and then, unnanounced, Miseria Cantare would hit and the place would just go apes**t; and out comes Punk to cut the promo of his life in the middle of the ring with the WWE title for an adoring crowd, returning to ROH as a conquering hero who'd accomplished something no one else had ever done. Punk's promos are really what sells his angles, and this one is no excpetion. It'd be like if WCW let DX in on that night in '98. TMZ and his Twitter say otherwise; he might not be recognized as "champion", but is in physical possession of the belt.

The belt is just the physical symbol of the title though, isn't it?
If he isn't officially WWE champion, then he's just a guy with a hideous looking piece of crap in his hands.

The title history doesn't say he's been stripped of it, and I'd go by that

I hope WWE clarify this at some point then because Lawler clearly stated he had been stripped of the title and we are supposedly getting a new champion next week.
It's quite fundamental to how this storyline works to know if Punk has been stripped of the title or if he is still champion and WWE are creating an "interim" title - UFC style.
As of right now, I have no idea what is going on.

I could also see Rey winning the tourney, Del Rio cashing in and celebrating his win, only to be greeted with Triple H, who's announced that he's signed the hottest free agent in wrestling....CM Punk. This leads to a title match at Summerslam to determine the undisputed WWE champion.

They should have segments in which HHH gets given a videotape every week, and it's all Punk shenanigans. And Trips could react like this: Every week.

If Punk's really out of his contract and taking time off, then him showing up anywhere is outside of WWE's control.

He'll be at ROH. I'm sure. He won't be advertised I reckon.
