According to the WWE Magazine's (kayfabed) Twitter, an irate Vinnie Mac nailed John Laurinaitis with a punch following Punk's escape. "Heads are gonna roll." twitter.com/#!/WWEmagazine I'm genuinely curious as to how long Johnny Ace will be an on-camera character.

If Punk is the new Austin then Ace is the new stooge I guess. It will be immensely more fun seeing old Johnny Ace get abused than it was seeing old Brisco and ancient Patterson get beat up. At least Brisco and Patterson were actually good workers and good backstage employees too.
Johnny Ace has no redeeming values.

Johnny Ace is a big f***ing joke, how that man was picked to take JR's place as VP of talent is a crime and an embrassment.

Also, there's the fact that Ace was a reasonably good worker when active, and was, at one point, considered an extremely promising backstage mind. I think he's turned into a bit of a Sammy Glick figure, and appears to be employed in the wrong area of the business, but blind hate actually makes him look BETTER in my eyes, and everyone else look worse.

I disagree with everything you said. He was the whitest bread in the ring and his best success came in tag teams where he was carried by more talented partners. He had size. He was a fairly safe worker. But drying paint was more interesting than Johnny Ace. And backstage, he got his biggest jobs by doing massive amounts of sucking up. You name me one good contribution of Johnny Ace to the industry. He did come up with the Ace Crusher, AKA the Stone Cold Stunner. But that's the only thing I can think of.

You name me one good contribution of Johnny Ace to the industry. Zack Ryder? Jack Swagger? Dolph Ziggler? Kofi? Oh you mean how he signed them? Laurinaitis took full control of the talent relations office in 2007 and all of these guys had debuted by then. Swagger, for one, was scouted & signed by Jim Ross personally. Kingston was signed in 2006. Ryder too. Dolph Ziggler was in OVW when Ace was only a road agent for the company. You could have said, Sheamus & Wade Barrett which he DID sign, but I'll just point you to all the swimsuit models, David Otunga, all the vanilla NXT guys, to the fact that he managed to sign the wrong one-legged guy when they wanted to put Zach Gowen on the show. As of tonight, both world champions were signed by Jim Ross and both MITB winners were signed under the influence of Triple H. Both former champions were also signed by Jim Ross. Ross delivered and had a hell of a batting average and so far, Trips bats real good too. But Johnny Ace has very little to show for.

Wikipedia says he took over the role in 2004, but not the most reliable source. Either case, fine - David Otunga. Yeah, think that proves your point.

Guys, Johnny Ace is perfect for the job. Talent Relations is a thankless job precisely because it also involves firing people. We love JR, but there are quite a few wrestlers out there who were given their F.E. from JR and they hate him as a result.
Talent Relations exist to take the heat away from Mcmahons when they fire someone. Johnny Ace is rarely the guy who makes the call on firing a midcarder and upwards, but gets the blame for it..

You must not have seen his work wrestling in Japan. Also, he was renowned in WCW and Japan for booking elaborate finishes to matches, with believable, high-intensity near falls. He'd be best as the head of the road agents (which I hear is the job Michael Hayes just got).

I did see his work in Japan and I'm thinking than working with Steve Williams VS the Four Pillars of All Japan constantly had a lot more to do with his matches being good than his own performance. Then again, like I said, a safe worker, a good basic worker, but nothing special. And his role as a booker in All Japan led to everybody leaving the company to start a new one. David Otunga is the perfect exemple. He scouted him, signed him, his system developped him from scratch (Not like Sheamus & Barrett who were already trained) and well, we have what we have don't we. That being said, Otunga is somewhat improving. But still he has no business in the big leagues at this stage of this carreer.
