WWE does a lot of things I don't agree with recently, mainly booking decisions, but this latest trend of trashing their own workers makes no sense, unless they actually want to kill ratings and house show attendance. I miss the days when every PPV was the biggest ever and the superstars were larger than life characters that were supposed to be the best in the world. Why would anyone pay money to see these guys if the announcers are crapping on them? In the Truth/Morrison match, when they took it to the stands they were saying how exciting it would be to come to a show and have these guys right in front of you and then later, they no-sell the talent. It's one thing when guys were on the way out but these guys plan on staying, as far as I know. One's a former champ and the other, a face on the rise. They announcing seems to be focused at people who don't like the WWE. Like two loser friends in school and one gets accepted by the in crowd and then trashes his friend. That's how you end up with literally 8 or 9 guys in your upper card with two brands, and everyone else is some form of a jobber. Yep. And people keep saying, "Do you want them to go back to the jobber match days?" But it's far worse now, because then you had a main eventer or midcarder facing a jobber, now in anything but the main event it's two jobbers fighting.

As horrible as the commentary was, what truly made it sad and pathetic was that JR kept trying to call the match, but was consistently being talked over by the over four.

That was terrible and what was worse was that they basically had the camera on the announce team the whole time minus the one part of the match that shouldn't have been seen. I thought that the fact that the camera was on the announce team, rather than the match showed that the match was fairly incidental. The idea was obviously to continue the friction between Dolph and Vickie, with Dolph claiming that he wins matches on his own and doesn't need Vickie, and Vickie proving otherwise (leading to Swagger asking for her services). Riley was only there to take the fall, and give a little continuity because of the fallout between Vickie & Dolph last week during Dolph's match against Riley. King was there to add friction - and also had to have the last word (because he's the face). The big problem with King, is that he never changed his style when he turned face. As a heel, he could make all the untrue claims in the world because we weren't supposed to believe him. However, when he still makes those untrue claims as a face, it makes him look like a tool, especially when we can see the truth with our own eyes. It's like he didn't want to turn face in the first place and is still resisting (and the only reason he turned face was because they gave him one match a year in Memphis, and Memphis won't boo him, so they realised that they had to have him face heels).

JR Sounded so legit sad when Dolph stomped on his hat, like a disappointed father or teacher.

Dolph and Vickie were supposed to act like that. They did their part like champs. It is King Cole and the director of the segment that went way too far.

Just awful. Swagger, Riley & Jr all deserved better than that. If two of your announcers don't care enough to call the match, why should the fans watching at home care about the wrestlers involved in it? Just ass-backwards thinking by WWE again. absolutely, I was pretty embarassed by this crap...I know people love soap opera, but then DON'T LET 2 TALENTED GUYS LOOK LIKE 2 PIECES OF TRASH THAT ARE NOT WORTH TALKING ABOUT

It was a total mess
Commentary in WWE is bewildering.

It was uncomfortable. It was awkward and distracting. It was almost like there wasn't even a match going on, especially considering they kept cutting to the announce desk. The match was just a front to make it seem like we weren't having ANOTHER promo.

They announcing seems to be focused at people who don't like the WWE. Like two loser friends in school and one gets accepted by the in crowd and then trashes his friend. You hit the nail on the head. I've done some indy commentary, and even I know that you are supposed to majorly put over both wrestlers and only put down their face/heel allignment, respectively. If you talk about how wrestlers are boring, not worth watching, bad at wrestling, and so forth, why should the audience think otherwise? It follows the same guidelines of how to give a good promo - if you say your opponent is a nobody, then you just beat (or worse, lost to ) a nobody. Not to mention, the current commentators, who spend most of their time bickering with each other, aren't even good at it! Jesse Ventura was a blast to listen to when he put down Vince, but these commentators are just like regular people who act like they hate other half the time and laugh like best friends, breaking character, the next. When their worst insults are along the lines of, "yeah, you would think that, wouldn't you?" it's time to bring in someone who knows how to do their job. That segment was among the most unprofessionally executed I have seen in my twenty years of being a wrestling fan, and that includes the smallest indy promotions.

From the start of the commentary to the appropriate messy finish of the match it was a total disaster. Don't know what the majority of the match was like because all I saw was the announcers table for 5 minutes whilst the match was going on.
Best part of this segment was Vickie Guerreros legs...tells you all you need to know really.

It served it's purpose, which was to show that Vickie and Dolph are close to breaking point and Swagger wants a new manager.
It also served to, hopfully, see Riley removed from Raw and sent to Superstars, as he doesnt belong anywhere near the IC title picture.
I get that it was disrespectful and everything, but on the other hand, the match was NEVER the focus and the whole point of the segment was the drama between Dolph and Vicki.

Dolph tried, but I'm so sick of Cole trying to put himself over while King makes the most corniest jokes. At least on Smackdown, Booker calls the matches. A thousand times this. I joke about him, but for whatever flaws Booker might have, he consistently tries to put over the guys in the ring instead of himself. That and the fact that Josh Matthews has to redirect Cole to the match at least 10 times per show. Matthews really knows how to just call the action w/o completely trying to put himself over. Sure he could ramp up the emotion once in a while, but I'll take that over announcers bickering with each other any day of the week.

Considering this was the only match that this happened in, I'm going to go out on the limb and say the match in question was really just a plot device to further the Vickie/Ziggler storyline, with Cole and King acting as instigators.

That being said, I don't give a damn about midcard matches at all so I'd much rather have seen that trainwreck than JR calling a match between two guys I don't give a damn about.

I accidentally started my own thread about it because it didn't click in my head that it was the Swagger/A-Ry match As long as things like this are used sparingly, it's all good. Like a Christmas special, you know?

Anyone else notice that JR just...stopped?
He literally gave in and just gave up during this match until Dolph insulted him for whatever reason. And JR's response was "What did I do? I'm not saying anything!"
At least for one night, Jim Ross just gave up.

Dolph got a showcase for his humor, Vickie's weight was defended and she was complimented and desired as a manager, Swagger got a win and a nice segment where he looks like he might actually get a manager and some attention. If most everyone came out looking decent and it was fun to watch, I'm happy.
