It fell apart before it got started. A lot of people wonder if it was really legit or not.
I think wrestlers were told that it was happening but I doubt anyone actually signed any contracts or else whichever geniuses was behind it would owe a ton of money to buy out their contracts.
This type of thing happens every four to five years. Some money guy says he is starting a promotion and it never gets off the ground.

It was a sham by most accounts. The guys who were "running" the show kept pushing it back and finally the guy who was in charge of getting talent wrote that he wasn't getting paid or getting his calls returned, at which point all news dried up.

I think most people who have closely followed the business for a while pretty much saw this coming. As Damien Valley said, it happens every few years. Somebody says they're starting a promotion that is going to compete on the national level, blah blah blah, and it either never gets off the ground, runs 1 - 3 shows and folds, or is never really anything beyond a local indie. Usually, it's one of the first 2 options.

It would've been so interesting if it started

When there are several big announcements made regarding a new promotion and claims of big money, grand plans, national television, and issuing multiple press releases every week, all before ever running a single show, 99 times out of 100 none of it will ever happen.

I would only believe something like that if it was an establish businessman or media conglomerate that would start it.

The key is actually running a show. Unless shows exist, the promotion doesn't either.

I was immediately suspicious when they announced that George Hackenschmidt and Farmer Burns had agreed to contracts.

They found out Field of Dreams and Wayne's World 2 were just movies not, in fact, documentaries of real life events.

I think this promotion was doomed to fail because of the fact that one of the Wilpons who also own the Mets was said to be the one behind the promotion. The Wilpons have been involved in a big lawsuit in the wake of the Bernie Madoff scandal.

The words "Wrestling Promotion" being in the name were also an indication it was all imaginary.
