First, a word of credit, I found a link to this list: www.ugo.com/sports/wrestlemania-one-hit-wonders?page=5...in this thread: officialfan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wrestling&action=display&thread=370210But that's not important. What's important is: Oh sweet Jesus I think this is the weirdest thing connected to pro wrestling I have ever witnessed in my life. It's not the homoeroticism. That's par for the course; even shirtless guys wearing nothing but bow ties isn't that out of the ordinary in our great pseudo-sport. It's the... the... god, where do I begin? The strobe effect at the beginning and end? The sinister low angle lighting during the strobe effect bits? The jump cuts? The awkward, disjointed zooms? The jump cuts in the MIDDLE of zooms? The completely motionless poses? The slow deliberate pointing? The sudden cuts between hatless guys staring lifelessly into the camera to the same guys staring lifelessly into the camera BUT NOW WEARING TOP HATS??? Was whoever made this on drugs? Was this made to make the viewer feel like they're going through a bad acid trip? Because they've passed with flying colors. I swear, if Godard decided to film an avant garde deconstruction of pro wrestling, it'd probably look like this clip. I'm going to go hide in my bed now.

There's a very fine line between surrealism and complete lack of talent.

Actually in 1982, that was pretty high-tech for a "smaller" promotion. Only thing missing was a Gary Numan/synthesized tune. (Jerry Lawler takes credit for that video.)
Think of it. In 1994, Jim Cornette had the same production values and used the same type of music. Really bad rock music you could never believe in your wildest dreams was actually popular.

Too bad we don't have a behind the scenes version of that with the director's instructions.
"OK Stan - get down all fours. OK Steve - get up right behind him there, there you go. Closer, closer, closer - hands on his shoulders. Great!"

I want this sort of thing to come back. PWG doing one of these with all parties involved playing it deadly serious would be great, just deadpan staring into the camera while smoke billows at them, etc.

Pretty funny, but not nearly as weird as it sounded from the OP. Though, I do agree PWG doing one of these would be a goldmine of hilarity.

Being in Memphis at the time, i actually thought this was pretty cool.(I know, I know)
Honestly, I saw this when it premiered on Saturday morning wrestling in Memphis in 1982. It was wildly popular. Go figure.

I'll take that music anyday over today's rap. I'm not saying rap sucks, but I can't believe some of the songs now.
