The IC Title didn't seem miles below the World Title in prestige in those days, bare in mind. Ehhh, didn't Warrior win it from Honkytonk? It wasn't exactly making him the number two guy before Warrior nabbed it. actually Honky Tonk Man(and the rest of Jimmy Hart's guys) were a big part of the reason the Mega Powers formed. So he got pretty up there.

The IC belt was really Warrior's level, and he should have remained there. He simply didn't have the ability to sell a storyline or a match or an event as Hogan did. He'd be great for the huge entrance impact ovation but to be the guy you have to have more than intrigue about you. People need to buy into not just you but what you're doing with someone else.
The IC belt was much more promotional than the WWE title. The Champ and all around him had to work, had to 'sell' and get people interested. The IC champ just needed to get people interested in him, and Warrior did that better than anyone.

Oh I love two things about the Warrior video.
1) That he recorded it whilst taking a dump.
2) He called Hogan 'Terry'. Granted, it is his real name but from a guy who calls himself f***ing 'WARRIOR' ? I mean, come on. That's like going on a night out with Liberace and being asked if you think you're a little over-dressed.

I think the big deal w/ calling him Terry, is that backstage, unless otherwise told, wrestlers call each other by their wrestling name. So by calling him Terry, it's a little extra insult and disrespect.

It was awesome. The crowd sounded hyped for it. Gorilla and Jesse's commentary made it epic.
It was called "The Ultimate Challenge" so it was obvious who was going to win, but it was still great, and my all time favourite Wrestlemania

Now, the '98 rematch...no, I'm already sorry for bringing it up.

Even if an outcome is really predictable, you can still build a great atmosphere for a match. HBK and Undertaker did it twice, Rock and Hogan did it, and I imagine Rock and Cena will, as well, assuming that Cena still has the belt and it becomes a title match (as it seems to be the way they are headed)

It's funny, now I'm picturing an alternate reality where Hogan wins clean, and destroys Warrior's career AND the credibility of the IC belt in one leg drop.
