I really get a kick out of reading the old rec.sport.pro-wrestling posts. Even though I was an offline mark at the height of the communitiy's popularity, I love reading it. Particularly the trolls/bizarre rumours (the rumour about Raven being gay even made it into the official FAQ at one point ) It also goes to show that the IWC hating popular wrestlers isn't a modern phenomenon- as far back as the late 80s Hogan was getting heat, as did the Rock in around 99. I also enjoy reading it to chart the evolution of promotions- in 96 or so there were a lot of "WWF is practically dead" posts. If only they could have seen... Do you enjoy reading old rspw stuff?

I'm reading the Raw and Nitro recaps, and it's funny to see the writer slam WCW every single week, even in the early days of the nWo. I recently read, "WCW is for sale. There's a distant rumor Vince McMahon might buy it, though some people speculate he would just raid its talent and disband the company itself." Nah, that would never happen, would it?

I always read Herb's Wrestling Tidbits. It seemed like the guy hated everything.

The best were the flamewars between groups like the Troll World Order and John Henry, Chad Bryant, Scott Keith, etc.
Also when the Meowers invaded.
And Zoogz Rift.

John Petrie's and Herb Kunze's archieves make for a fun read.
Petrie is very pro-WWF anti-WCW, though entertaining in his reviews, while Herb was the other way around. Anyone looking for some of the Attitude Era criticisms, at the time, should check his stuff out for examples of what was being said by the critics at the time.
CRZ's reviews are still all present and correct at Slashwrestling.com, and I also recommend DDT Digest as well (donate a few bucks to them if you can, great site).

I remember a link to the first ever RSPW post (or the furthest trackable back one) and it was some guy writing an open love letter to Tammy Sytch.
I never understood RSPW though to be fair. I tried to post there about ten or so years ago, but could never work out how to. Is it still around?

I tried to post there about ten or so years ago, but could never work out how to. Is it still around? rspw's been around since the late 80s I believe, and Tammy was at her most popular as Sunny during the mid 90s, so it probably isn't the first post. It's still around, but largely inactive. Shame, I love Usenet

CRZ and DDT Digest are worth your time.
CRZ always had a very exact style, so if you like your matches and promos described almost verbatum then that's the place. DDT Digest meanwhile has a lot of pictures on their recaps and generally a looser, funnier feel (particularly by the 'darker days' of 1999 onwards and recappers like Xavier Doom)
