I loved tonight's show no doubt...but TNA missed a huge opportunity tonight with Doug Williams's Open Challenge.
If I remember correctly, Kurt Angle is a former X-Division Champion. Angle & Williams could've put on a f***ing classic

Yeah but Angle is involved in the championship picture at the moment so doing a match with Williams would be outside logic and a step down.

I never thought of that but you're right. The fans would've appreciated it a lot more too. I think they were expecting a familiar face as the mystery opponent, and were lost when it was some guy they'd never seen. Not that he was bad (though the crowd ruined that match for me) but Angle would've been much better.

I thought that too but, it really wouldn't work from a booking standpoint as there is no way you can have Angle lose to Williams and they're trying to build up Williams again so he couldn't lose either.

True to an extent, but this is one of those "one night only" PPVs. They can generally get away with doing stuff that's not consistent with the other story lines at these types of events.

Losing to Kurt Angle wouldn't hurt Williams at all. Especially considering that he's in a feud with Mexican America...

This would've taken the PPV from an A- to an A++. Angle/Williams would've been amazing.

I am sure they would have torn the joint down. I'm just offering a possible response to the OP

Its a shame Lethal isnt there anymore, because a Lethal/Angle rematch to their X Title Match would have been fantastic.

Whoever the hell they brought in was a real low light of the show, what a let down.
Oh yeah, and Zema Ion was stupid too.

I was thinking during the PPV that Angle & Beer Money were actually the only TNA talents I actually kinda missed seeing during the PPV.
You could have the guys who competed during Destination X as the entire TNA roster, plus Angle, Beer Money, Pope, Morgan, and Jarrett and be just fine. Abyss & Morgan would actually stand out more working with that roster.
I'd bet they'd get the same TV ratings, and probably better PPV numbers because people would know they'll always get good matches.

I was much happier with what we got, other than the morons chanting "USA". Some nice old-school wrestling with the first half of the match being reminiscent of the classic British style with the fast and varied pin counters.

I liked Haskins as well. He made a few mistakes, but the turnbuckle that he slipped off of seemed to mess up all night. Jack Evans nearly made the same mistake.

What did Zema Ion do wrong? For all the talk of wanting new blood, sometimes it seems that if it's not the same ol' ROH alumni then new talent must suck. I'm glad the crowd wasn't too hard on Ion. A vocal portion even encouraged him!
Haskins on the other hand? Maybe it wasn't fair...the crowd were expecting something else (Angle, Petey, whatever). They were on his case from the get go but it's understandable. Hope to see the kid bounce back actually.

What did Zema Ion do wrong? Not being famous enough?

I thought UKendrick did well. Just thought the end of the match was blah.

I thought it was weird that an unknown, underdog babyface would come out wearing a fur coat, looking like a total heel.
I thought that was stupid on the part of Haskins. Not the time or place to be looking like a MNM-like heel.
