I don't think this is a publicity stunt forced on him by TNA, it seems to be something Kurt wants, the guy is a former Olympian, it's who he is. Is it a good idea? Probably not. Will TNA capitalise on it? Of course, they'd be stupid not to. Looking at the shape he's in now, compared to his WWE run, he'd have less of a problem passing the drug tests, provided they don't test for painkillers or alcohol. He doesn't look like his head is going to explode these days at least, he just sounds like it when he gives interviews outside of TNA. The guy will likely give some kid a run for his money, just missing out on the team through some technicality and walk away with his pride and his neck intact, well, relatively. If he puts in a good showing, I wonder if there's some coaching role they could give him as Kurt giving interviews could make the at least a part of the olympics into something approaching watchable.

Kurt giving interviews could make the at least a part of the olympics into something approaching watchable. As long as he doesnt try to do "wrestling"-style interviews, which would make him seem like a joke, no matter how great he would be on the mat.

Tryouts are "this upcoming April"? As in a year away? I'd have thought they would have started earlier than that given the Olympics are next year For individual sports like Wrestling and Gymnastics they sometimes go as late as May or June for the qualifications.

He can start training once he finishes up his MMA career. Good one

If he somehow made it to the Olympics, he'd probably be the first guy crippled in the ring. Dude's neck has got to me turkey jerky by now.

Insane? Check. Improbable? Check. Insane? Check.
Well, that's his three "I's" all present and correct.
Seriously though, if he wants it and he's in good enough shape to do it, then bloody good luck to him.

Sorry but Kurt's mind may be willing but his body says otherwise. He's going to have to compete against guys who been training for most of their lives for a shot on the US wrestling team. Factor in his overall physical condition, it won't happen. This ain't some feel good Hallmark movie.

Yeah, this is just a poorly thought out publicity stunt.
And if he actually does make the team, I'll eat my hat. I know I teased eating it before with Cena's 2008/2009 world title run, but I mean it this time. With ketchup and relish. And I'll post pics.

Either he makes it....or he dies trying.
He's very proud of his Olympic background but I think he needs to let it go as the past.
TNA is going to milk the hell out of it.

Yeah, this is just a poorly thought out publicity stunt. I dunno how poorly thought out it was, I mean everyone loves an underdog/comeback story, at the very least Kurt can milk some press coverage out of it... I doubt he'll make the team though or pass the drug test as the Olympics have ridiculously high standards for them and I would expect painkillers to be one of the things they check.

But he doesn't have a BROKEN FREAKIN NECK! Nowadays I'm pretty sure that if Kurt sleeps the wrong way he'll suffer a broken neck. Good luck Kurt. You're gonna need it. That and good health insurance.
