and what would get viewers to tune in and staying is sexier stars?
hear me out. look at the more popular shows on television like True Blood. and it's very obvious by these boards and watching Raw that fans of the WWE and TNA (to an extent) lock on to one or so wrestlers they're marking out for. most of the time that because they have somewhat of a crush or obsession with that performer
I love the originals, don't get me wrong
but....
Beer Money are too "Southern"
A.J. Styles is too "Southern" and plain
Samoa Joe is fat
pretty much all of the x-division guys are vanilla and too small
Jeff Hardy, their biggest hope for that kind of star came off as a mess and wasn't ready for t.v. at the time he was there. His brother is also in decline.
The legends get viewers for nostalgia, but they also bring negative attention and people make fun of the product because of them
The KO's can be fresh and new and attractive to the ratings, still on a network like Spike and Vince Russo writing the show, they're held back by being appealing to a small portion of the t.v. audience as a whole
TNA needs to go out and see if they can get a roster full of John Morrisons, Randy Ortons, John Cenas, and Cody Rhodes types
because, and I hate to say this, because I want wrestling to matter as much as everyone else
Looks matter more
Cena's abs, Morrison's flowing locks, Randy's pecs, and Cody's "hideous" face
Greater than
Joe's muscle buster, Daniels' Best Moonsault ever, Styles' clash, and the Angle lock

Samoa Joe being fat I guess is true- so is Kane- but honestly the first time I heard about him I thought his name sounded dumb.

The X-division guys are too small to be attractive?
Um, yeah, if there's anything that makes a guy attractive, it's bulkiness and mass. noooooobody thinks Kendrick, Sabin, or Max Buck are hot!
...that said, the x-division roster IS way less attractive than it has been in years past. Maybe there IS something to this...

Bobby Roode is too "Southern" and unattractive? I guess he can be considered southern by the people who live in Greenland or something.

Well, if I was TNA, I would love to hire a bunch of ex-models and wannabe actors in order to get higher ratings because, as we all know, working with such people would be incredibly easy and they wouldn't make any outrageous demands at all. ;D

For 10 years, WWE has hired too many developmental guys based on looks. What you have is a bunch of decent looking dudes with big muscles who don't look like they could win a pretend fight.
I'm not saying appealing to the ladies isn't important, because even redneck territory bookers booked acts geared towards the ladies like Fabulous Ones, Rock N' Roll Express, Rockers, Fantastics, etc. and they drew.
But remember...WWE's ratings are in steady decline, too. The answer isn't in finding more John Morrisons, Randy Ortons, John Cenas, and Cody Rhodeses.
Book all four of those guys in TNA the way that TNA is currently presented, and it wouldn't make an ounce of difference.

Is this a bad thing? I think this is what has been missing in wrestling today. The only Southern characters created by WWE were Jesse, Festus, and Jimmy Wang Yang, which were all bad Southern stereotypes in my opinion.

TNA runs out of the south, so why would "Too Southern" be a problem?

Actually it wouldn't be too bad if TNA would become completly Southern and I mean old school Southern wrestling. Now THAT would make it different from WWE. Don't try to become more slick and glossy just have a product that looks more simple and red neck trying to reproduce territory days.

One of the biggest top two or three stars in the industry's history was a beer swilling redneck from Texas.
The too 'Southern' thing, whatever that means, does not compute.

Eww I'm a Northerner and one of the biggest appeal the great NWA had over the WWF in the 80s was that different more simple, grittier feel.

Eww I'm a Northerner and one of the biggest appeal the great NWA had over the WWF in the 80s was that different more simple, grittier feel. I just want the "action" in TNA. I remember when I first watched TNA it was a MCMG vs GenMe match I was just surprised at how fast paced it was. It was so different from the boring slow paced matches that WWE had. That's why I want the "old" X-divison back. More fast paced matches with moves and spots I hardly see in WWE. I think if they were just everything the WWE wasn't they could be succesful.

I don't mind more action but there was a point where the X division matchs had become like video games with tons of spot fests and even the fans were not reacting to them anymore like in the past. Because the moves didn't mean anything and there was a lack of psychology. I wouldn't mind if there was a strong X division but in a different way.

I don't watch it for my jollies or how attractive a guy is... I'm a big fat guy like Samoa Joe or Adrian Adonis, but I could bump around a bit before I hurt myself. Size is no indicator of talent.
