In short, no. TNA's problems go much deeper than their main event.

I think Paul Heyman could be a potential game changer. Not as an on screen character of course.
It would require several people stepping aside though.

Jim Ross. Give him carte blanche with the roster, booking, and stick him behind the mike and tell him to call it like he did in WCW. Within two weeks Impact might resemble a wrestling show.
Of course Ross is far too comfortable in the E to ever do this.

They've already sucked in Hogan, Flair and Jeff Hardy and you know how the little kiddies love their Jeff Hardy.

The audience is no longer there for anyone to be a game changer though. That huge group of fans from the late nineties is gone.

Realistically, people would have to know what TNA actually is before anyone could become a game changer. It's a little more known that it was back in the early days, but I know too many people who associate wrestling with WWE and haven't the slightest clue what TNA is.
As for game changers, I thought Jeff Hardy coming in would attract new viewers, but if people don't know about it, why would they watch it. Those that did know about Jeff Hardy in TNA were treated to weeks of horrible wrestling television. TNA needs to get their name out there, and start producing television people want to watch in order for anyone going over there to be considered a "game changer."

Despite what many say, bringing a promotion up needs more than just 1 guy. They can get them attention, but there needs to be a very strong undercard.

No they have to establish their own brand and stars while supplementing in ex-WWE stars. Their isn't one guy that is going to turn around the company from an on screen perspective. As long as the product is poorly booked the ratings will be stagnant. The OMG ex-WWE guy X is in the Impact Zone wears off pretty quickly. The ratings pop for a week maybe go up a week or two after and than thats it.
If they brought in John Cena WWE's franchise guy it would be a 2 month ratings increase and that's it if he wouldn't be booked right or the show that supported him was still terrible the ratings wouldn't be there.
All in all TNA needs to realize the bigger picture the difference between a 1.1 and 1.2 isn't much. These week to week ratings grabs don't mean much. Paul Heyman (Even if you don't think he would be the right guy for them) had a good concept of going for a 5 year plan of establishing young stars that you could build as your own and establish your own brand identity.

Of course Ross is far too comfortable in the E to ever do this. Yeah, too comfortable getting humiliated every 6 months. I'm waiting for the day that JR just has enough and flushes his wwe loyalty down the toilet.

I think if The Rock came in fulltime maybe but other than him I don't think so. Maybe Cena could come in as a heel and get a lot of new viewers but I don't know if even that would work.

Nope.
Opportunity only knocks once and they totally missed their chance for a big jump in viewer ship with abysmal MNW II.

New writers. The production's there, the wrestling's there, but the storylines need work. If they could find writers who get wrestling and implement the idea of a 5 year - heck, 2 year - plan, they could build something special. Going for the quick pop has bit TNA too many times.

Since Hogan did f*** all, I'm tempted to say no. But I think that maybe, just maybe, if they managed to bring in Stone Cold or The Rock, that might get something moving.

Their roadblock to succeed has never been because of the talent.

I'm pretty sure they could sign Vince McMahon and at this point it wouldn't make a difference.

Their roadblock to succeed has never been because of the talent. Very true. They've had the roster to be bigger, and have had it for years now. Wolves led by sheep.
