Since 2007 or '08, I have made it a point about 6 to 8 times a year to say:
"I'm going to give TNA a try." After the first few times, I might add: "and see if it has improved."
I turn on the TV on Thursday, I sit down and I watch.
And after an hour or so, every single time, I give up.
Why?
Not once in all those times do I ever remember seeing even 10 minutes of wrestling in that hour. Sometimes it's 5. At least once or twice it was ZERO.
And what really upsets me is the name.
If you aren't going to show a lot of wrestling, why call it "Total Non-Stop Action"?
Why not "Total Non-Action," or "Talk Not Action."
Is it like calling a 350-pound guy "Tiny"? Or dubbing Christian Cage "Captain Charisma"?
I'm serious. I watch WWE, because it's the best alternative, but I like wrestling. That's why I want to like TNA. There's a lot of talent on the roster -- but very little actual wrestling.
Am I the only one bothered by this? Am I the only one that gets more turned off than I would otherwise because every time I see the logo on TV, I think what the name stands for and feel like I'm being lied to? Is it just me?

Scour the boards, there's a lot of people who agree with you. I, however, am not one of them. I think that a wrestling company's free shows should sell their ppvs by promising wrestling on them. TNA doesn't do a good job of that but that's beside the point.

Back in what people call the "last great era of wrestling" in the 80s the weekly shows were mainly there for character building, create feuds and sure you had matchs but I can't possibly call them that as it was 5 minutes squashes. If you wanted to see the wrestlers go at it, you would go to the house shows. The tv shows were there for people to go see the house shows. So compare that to what TNA is going...

Total Nonstop Action is a Wrestling Promotion. How ironic that the two things people seem to be most likely to complain about are the lack of wrestling, and the lack of promotion. (Yea and the nonsensical direction Creative favours, but it doesn't work if you include that as well )

Even if they were squashes, at least half of Superstars/Wrestling Challenge was still focused on wrestling. At the very least, you'd get to see what one guy could do in the ring while the announcers put over the angles.

I've given up on TNA completely after the last show because of this. My mind was blown watching Smackdown after watching Impact, where they had 7 matches. And they don't want to be thought of as wrestling.

Their PPVs sell the free shows, when it should be the other way around.

Change it to Total Nonstop Talking. Not only appropriate, but the acronym gives another WCW connection to make Dixie giddy.

I'm the exact opposite of the OP because I stopped watching RAW because there's very little wrestling Entertaining, more talking and lots of slow, boring promos, whereas at least TNA keeps my attention, but that's just me. I don't even notice the ratio of wrestling to promo time when watching TNA, but I do when watching the WWE.

You know what helps me get through this? Watching old TNA and pretending it's current.

I really wish TNA would change their name already. As long as they have the initials "TNA", they will never get taken seriously.
