I just watched the first episode and they are currently replaying it.
Anyway, I want those 30 minutes of my life back. The amount of pure stupidity this showed was mind boggling.

What's the gist of it?

As the title suggests it shows alternate histories of the world should certain events change. In the debut episode it was about Hitler winning World War II and eventually taking over America.
Sounds interesting? Well it SHOULD have been but they f*** it up by having a bunch of completely biased people interviewed, completely ignoring several critical events of WWII (according to them America landing on D-Day was the only thing that won the war) and by completely ignoring everything except America, plus not acknowledging any other major World events which would have had an impact on the Nazi regime.

Factual inaccuracy? From the Brain Trust that brings us MANSwers and Deadliest Warrior? Surely you jest......

I love how they never acknowledge the USSR or Japan in any of that.

I love how they never acknowledge the USSR or Japan in any of that. Or Britain, or Canada... I especially love the U.S sergeant who says that 70 years after the Nazi occupation, they will be forced out by a bunch of rebels who would never have any chance of scoring enough weapons, resources, and manpower to disrupt the Regime. I also highly doubt that the Nazi's would allow something like the internet to develop.

I love how they never acknowledge the USSR or Japan in any of that. Why should they have acknowledged the USSR? It's not like the Soviet Union had any effect on World War II, and the fall of Hitler and the Nazis.

It's not like the Soviet Union had any effect on World War II, and the fall of Hitler and the Nazis. One major critical flaw Hitler made was pulling out of Britain and invadeing Russia during the winter time (you know, because that has worked so well in the past). If he had pressed on and stayed in Britain then the Nazi's could have very well won the war. None of this is addressed. The only turning point in WWII brought up was the American invasion on D-Day failing (the program has them fail due to fighter jets bTW).

So...you can track them yet you wait till they are in a public place to do anything.

It a fun idea but not exactly one that can really be displayed in a mere 22 minutes.
Like Deadliest Warrior, good idea but it needs more substance to be taken realistically.

I'd argue that wasn't one major critical flaw, that was the major critical flaw. The Soviets weren't going to go against Germany, till Hitler in his infinite wisdom decided to strike against them. I know the Soviet Union wasn't the big superpower it would become at that point, but why piss off a country whose army can survive the harshest of conditions, and fight on their land? I've got to watch this when it airs again. It's hilarious that they ignored the Soviets' role in taking down Hitler.

And hell, even the Brits, who played as much of a role as America in ending the Nazi regime.

Hell, I know about the power of the USSR against Germany based on reruns of Hogan's Heroes. Every mention of the "Russian Front" was a death sentence for Germans, and how no one wanted to mess with the Russians.
(Yeah, I know it from World History as well, a class I loved, but Hogan's Heroes was more entertaining)

Something more interesting would be an alt history on the US joining the Axis powers.

So to recap:
-D-Day was the only thing that cost Hitler the war.
-Britain and Russia either don't exist or never retaliate.
-America never bothers with another attack
-Canada has no problem with the Nazi's setting up shop right next to them
-Aside from rampant racism and discrimination, American culture stays exactly the same as it does in real history.
-The moon landing still happens, despite being no Cold war to pressure them into it.
-The internet is still invented, despite only being able to negatively impact the Nazi's.
-Revolutions begin 70 years after the initial occupation and somehow win despite causing the deaths of hundreds of civilians AND having no access to resources, weapons, or having any training.

Something more interesting would be an alt history on the US joining the Axis powers. Now that would be very interesting to see. Some of the other ideas they mentioned in the opening were: JFK lives South wins the Civil War EDIT: Dinosaurs don't go extinct (WTF?) There were 1 or 2 more. I'll update it once I catch the replay in 10 minutes or so.

Seriously, maybe Spike should stick to Hooter's girls and dumb humor and leave history to the History Channel and NatGeo.
