And no, I don't mean dark as in disturbing, etc... I mean dark as in... I can't see a damn thing even with the flashlight they give you dark. Just got this from Gamefly, and it's frustrating me getting killed because I have no weapons and can't see anything. Bigger learning curve on this then the first it seems.

I found playing in the dark actually helped. My eyes adjusted to the dark room I was in, and thus I was able to see more on screen

It adds to the experience. I know it can get frustrating, but think about that and maybe it won't seem as bad.

I was just frustrated by the VERY start when you can't see a damn thing, have a straight jacket on and are running away. I died like 5 times at the very start cause I couldn't see where to go lol

That's if you're not already pissing your pants from the absolute fear of running around in pitch darkness with your arms bound while murderous, mutated zombie aliens roam the place.

Ah the opening of Dead Space 2, I did enjoy that. Need to play the 2nd one again was as fun as the first.

I had no problem with this game - did you adjust the settings enough? You can brighten it up.
I love this game.

Sometimes TVs have different modes (movie, game, sports, etc) and if you switch to another mode it also helps.

The game is pretty dark anyways so all this adjustment may not even help you much. I didn't mind how dark it was because I felt it added to the mood of the game but I can see it being a real pain for others. You'll probably just have to max out the damn brightness.

No one here has played Doom 3? I have. I also played the expansion pack. It's a damn good game. Look forward to Doom 4 (Rage as well). I love sci-fi horror like this. I swear if there were more of these types of games it would be all I'd play.
