So Border's bookstore is going out of business and they're having their liquidation sale. I just came back from buying 22 books for about $85. Someone bought the last copy of 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' before I got there, otherwise it would have been 23. Oh well.
Anyone else (planning to) get some good buys?

I got the Penny Arcade card game and my fiancee got a few CDs.
Sad to hear it going.

I was going to buy some stuff yesterday but the line was massive so I'm going in a little bit to get them. I even hid the stuff somewhere.

Broke as a joke. No surprise as I'm always broke during out of business sales...

I'll wait another week or so until the price cuts get really good and then raid whatever is left.

I was extremely disappointed when I heard about this. I like book stores and the Borders nearby was/is a convenient place. I like the books physically in front of me, with pages. I always love browsing. I mean yeah, there's the library, but still. Now that's gone, and I'll have to travel to the city to browse/buy books. Anyway.. I'll try to go there on my next day off and get as much as I can from the liquidation, which unfortunately is not until next week. It's sad to lose them over electronic age 'books'.

I got a ton of stuff back when they shut down over here. It's a pity, especially since the site has been left derelict (still with a whole bunch of magazines on the shelves) for a few years now.

I already picked up the stuff that I hid. This won't be the end of it. I'll go back very soon to get some more stuff.

I wish they sold books I need for school. Though I'll probably see if any good mental health/counseling related books for cheap.

The nearest one is 120 miles away in Kansas City and any savings I'd get would be nullified likely by the trip to and from. Oh well.

I was thinking about it but I have like no money this weekend. But I imagine it's packed as hell now so I'll wait a few days.

I picked up 6 or 7 books for 15 bucks, and also a Kobo book reader for 40. I wanted to give it a shot to see if I'd like to read e-books, and I don't, but its better than wasting 150. Once my wife's RA flares up again it will be easier for her to read on the subway though.

I think that it has less to do with "electronic age books" and more to do with the fact that everything there was ridiculously overpriced, especially when you could just go to Amazon and get virtually any book that they have for at least 50% cheaper.

I've bought quite a few "used" books off of Amazon for $1 that arrived at my house in mint condition.

I was thinking about it but I have like no money this weekend. But I imagine it's packed as hell now so I'll wait a few days. I was at the one local to us yesterday, and it wasn't nearly as packed as one would think. Well, that and the liquidations were a joke. 20% off Undisputed, while an okay discount, is still way overpriced versus what I can pay for the book online. The full example: Undisputed costs $27.99 at Borders (at least here in Toledo). With the 20% discount, it lowers the price of the book to $22.39. However, one can still find the book online for $17.06 at Amazon. In short, it won't be worth it to get the book until the prices start getting to 40% for the book. Now, I don't know what it's like for other books, but the liquidation still isn't terribly worth it.

How much are the discounts right now? Are they kinda low then will get bigger or are they pretty decent for starting out?
