Basically if you didn't feel like reading the link, a cop ended up shooting and killing a dude last year. When the family started investigating, it turns out that the entire East Dublin police force has been improperly trained and according to GBI records they don't even have the authority to make arrests. Despite the fact that this police station has been making arrests for decades.
The cop that killed the man is someone that I went to high school with, and I live only minutes from this police station. I've been pulled over by these guys before too. This is really one of the most bizarre things I've ever read. This is f***ing embarrassing.
That said, I don't blame Jeff at all. He was protecting his life in the way that he had been trained. It's also not his fault that the police force hired him without training him properly. I really don't understand why he would be arrested for this.
It's just a big mess. Welcome to East Dublin.

After seeing that link (which contains a video of the incident, so be warned although it's not graphic at all), I have changed my tune on how I feel about this. I don't know why Jeff Deal was trying to subdue this guy, but I feel like the guy that he killed acted reasonably. If some asshole ran up and put his hands on me like that I would probably swing for the fences as well. It's a shame that things happened like that. I would really like to know why he was being "stopped" in the first place.
