I'm assuming eventually he'll realize there's a better chance of remolding star wars into exactly what he wants by redoing everything all over again. I don't put it beyond ole georgie.

Between his tinkering, and his prequels (which in many ways have altered the meaning and context of the original trilogy) one could say he's already started to remake them.

I wish he'd get beyond the clone wars already. They've been going on for almost 10 years already!

At this point, he should just start a new story arch. What does he have to lose?

Between his tinkering, and his prequels (which in many ways have altered the meaning and context of the original trilogy) one could say he's already started to remake them. This. It's not even that he's changing major parts of the OT, but essentially that he's destroying the nuance of the OT. Adding "no" to the understated moment of Vader's determination that he's going to save his son and betray the Emperor, his assertion that Greedo shoots first (underminding a show-don't-tell character moment for Han Solo), and adding scenery-obstructing monstrosities to the establishing shots of Mos Eisley. Seriously, I love that he created something I love, but if he spent as much time going through the Original Trilogy to get the story right as he spends going through it now to pinpoint shit that doesn't sit right that he wants to change, the PT wouldn't have as many f***ing continuity errors as it has. With all due respect to George Lucas and his accomplishments, f*** that guy.

He should release the original cuts of Star Wars on blu-ray..
You know what, I bet that's going to happen. People will double dip for the original cuts (look at the dvd releases)

More likely he'll do an episode 7 but in that case they're both pretty unlikely.
I really can't see the endless tinkering that goes on with the originial Star Wars trilogy as nothing other than an attempt to squeeze more money out of the franchise. Now they're coming out on Blu-Ray there's this whole new fanfare about them which I'm sure will come around again in about 3 years time when they're updated.

Oh well. I'm going to buy the blu-rays and if probably see the movies in 3D when they're released. Also would be there opening night for an Episode 7.
And I'm not even a huge fan or anything. Very casual fan.

Things like this are why I'm glad I never liked Star Wars in the first place. Though I still think all of the edits are moronic.

Frankly I'd be all for him just remaking the OT if it meant he'd stop ****ing w/ the versions we like.

Lucas says that the original versions do not exist anymore. Then again, that could be BS. That is BS The unaltered Master prints exist An unaltered Star Wars is definitely at the Library of Congress. It was inducted by the National Film Registry in 1989. The Empire Strikes Back, however, was inducted in 2010 so it has all the changes. I don't think Lucas means that he had all the prints destroyed but that, to him, they no longer matter and if someone wants to show the Star Wars movies on TV or buy it for home media, it'll be the altered new ones.

To be honest "Empire" is the least butchered, In fact I think the Changes are improvements. Now Jedi, Whoo boy

Jorge is probably right now sitting in his mountain compound wearing his Ewok suit and twirling a brandy dreaming up the possibilities.

He won't because he's too old to embark on something that would take up so much time and effort. I bet he goes to bed every night thinking about it though.
