I am not a regular to this sub-section of the forum. Hell, I'm not even a regular of TNA/Impact/Eric Bischoff Comedy Hour, or whatever it's called.
However, I'm always up for a new wrestling experience, so why not get some bleacher seats at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, and watch a house show?
Surprisingly to you all, the big attraction wasn't the TNA stars, it was locals Hale Collins and Vik Dalishus. Starting out as friends in Poughkeepsie, the two had unsurpassed popularity as the tag team 'NOW' in Northeast Wrestling. After a bitter turn and match earlier in the year for NEW, TNA gave them a tryout match, complete with their music and gimmicks. Vik won in a four minute match with Earl Hebner screwing over Hale Collins (you know how). Apparently it was also Earl's 100,000th match he ever reffed, so he got a special edition shirt that was sold later on in the evening!
To the card.
Oh boy did it mostly suck.
The opener was nice enough, a triple threat for the X-Division. I know Kid Kash and Austin Aries were two guys, but the third was something Sorenson. Aries won.
Next came out Garrett Bischoff about to ref a match when instead, Gunner and Naitch came down. Flair was rambling on and on about how Garrett would never make it, and Gunner was so hot that if Flair was a woman he'd take him home. While flirting with Christy Hemme. Yeah. It was announced Bischoff/Gunner later. UGH
So then we had Bully Ray and AJ Styles. Some funny heel cowardice from Bully early, but AJ got the springboard clothesline for the win.
Afterwards, and winning the worst match of the evening, was a tag champ vs. tag champ "classic" in Crimson and Matt Morgan. Total stinker. I didn't even care who won. I cared more about a $3 pretzel.
Gail Kim retained her Women's Championship against Mickie James, then it was intermission.
First match up from intermission is James Storm and Kurt Angle. Besides the beer drinking during the match, fairly standard stuff inside the ring with Storm getting some Sweet Beer Music on Kurt for the win.
Bischoff/Gunner follows. Less said the better. Bischoff got Conway'ed, and his stunning win got no more of a pop either. UGH.
Main event was Roode/JEFF Hardy for the TNA title. Not a bad match at all, but felt underwhelming considering talent involved.
That's a quick wrapup. Might add more tomorrow. Just not a good show all the way around.
