The only thing I'm getting tired of is "geek humor". I enjoy a good meme as much as the next guy, but, I'm sorry, geeks just don't know how to be funny very often. Too much reliance on sarcasm and memes. This too. People who say stuff like "forever alone" and "cool story bro" in public are turbo-charged tools to the 10th power.

The worst was when I was still going to ROH shows. You could usually tell a geek by how poorly he heckled. Dead giveaway: heckling revolving around workrate or personal life stuff.

Ugh... reminds me of when I watched the CM Punk promo where he signed his WWE contract on the title, and one of the hecklers yells "Your shining wizard sucks!"

To be clear, I am not against the fact that it's ok to like geeky stuff. I am against what other people have already pointed out of idiots being a geek for the sake of being a geek. And company's who put up the facade of "we get you".(which happens to a lot of subcultures) www.geeksaresexy.net/2011/10/11/geeks-according-to-sony-how-we-get-girls/And of course one of my favorite pics that sums it up. XD

Who cares? Don't worry about other people and just focus on yourself. You'll be a LOT happier that way.

This is a thing? And here I was thinking that the recent influx of chicks that like anime and video games was something natural.

I like because it gives real geeks who are worried of being shunned a chance to be themselves more than trying to be someone they're not for the sake of fitting in. That's kind of where I am. I'm much more open about my strange fandoms because I know they are people who feel the same. Not that I was really worried of being shunned to begin with, but now I get along with others much better through geek conversations.
But yeah, all the posers aren't helping. Not one damn bit.

It just doesn't make sense to me to complain about "posers" and all that garbage. It just seems like a way for "real" geeks/nerds/etc to separate themselves and feel superior. How about we all just dig what we dig and whether a "real" or "poser" geek wants to talk to me about movies, music, games, comics, whatever, I'll be more than happy to oblige. You should too. It's how you form connections, it's how you...gasp....make friends!

I hope so. It irks me that people are now pretending to be fans of things that were often considered "nerdy" because it's ironically cool now. I actually had an encounter a while back with someone wearing a Tim Drake Robin T-Shirt. I'm a big fan of the character, so I said "Nice shirt. I'm a big Tim Drake fan, too.". What was this "fan"'s response? "Who's Tim Drake?". God, this "cool to be geek" stuff is pissing me off. Seriously, if that happens, or they're wearing a band's shirt and they can't name 5 songs, you should be allowed to take it off of them.

This is why people hate real geeks btw... they weird feeling of superiority they have when they know more about something then someone else. Anyway who freaking cares of it's a "poser" or not...just be happy that you can wear your geeky crap and no one will give you crap for it these days.

For some of us it isn't a superiority thing — sometimes it's disappointment. I'd like to believe that if somebody shows outward signs of liking something that I like, then we have something with which to connect. When it turns out they have no idea what it even is, then it just gets awkward (at least as much as I've experienced).

Yeah, internet humor rarely translates into real-life. I had a friend that pretty much spouted out memes and usually he was the only one laughing. This is a guy who still thinks "The cake is a lie" is funny.
