Who won the season series between the Rays and Red Sox? Tampa won the season series 12-6, going 7-2 at Fenway and 5-4 at Tropicana. And in case anyone is wondering, St. Louis won the season series against Atlanta 5-1, sweeping the Braves at Busch and winning 2 of 3 in Atlanta.

I hope we get 2 one game playoffs. Has that ever happened? Would they be played the same day? Nationally televised? I'm just full of questions, apparently Nope, there have never been two one-game playoffs in the same year. They just seem to happen in spurts though, with back to back one-game playoffs in '98 and '99, and one in three straight years from '07 to '09. Don't know what the case would be television wise if there were two one-game playoffs were though. I'd guess maybe they'd either be televised back-to-back or simultaneously on different networks.

I know that Boston and Tampa Bay would play a tiebreaker Thursday afternoon (around 4:30 I think). So if Atlanta and St. Louis have to play a tiebreaker, I'd assume they'd go afterwards

The Angels have closed up shop and are throwing out whatever they have on the end of their bench.
Santana was scratched today, Weaver is scratched for tomorrow.
Works for me since we are still playing for home field over Detroit. Have to finish a game up on them because they have the tiebreaker.

I'm just full of questions, apparently You know what's really funny about this, should it happen? It's exactly what will happen when we switch to the two Wild Cards format in the next year or two, but it'd be happening now. Love it. Still, I'd rather see the collapses finalized tomorrow.

I just realized...freaking Girardi is crying about not having the extra day off to rest his pitchers...but if the Red Sox and Rays end up playing that extra game Thursday, they won't have a single day off before postseason starts. I bet you won't hear Francona or Maddon complaining about it either. Suck it up Girardi.

Not to mention that he's had a week or so to rest his starters and limit his pitchers pitch counts or have call-ups make spot starts. Nobody made him start most of his regular lineup against Boston last weekend, or have Rivera go in non save situations

[quote author=vyse board=offtopic thread=385602 post=7699355 time=1317171989 Opposite scenario- what if the Rays and Cardinals did so? Ratings poison!!! And it'd mostly be the Rays' fault.

Ryan Roberts hits a walk-off grand slam to give Arizona the win over Los Angeles. All because the pitcher failed to cover first. Dodgertown! Also, Jose Reyes (.336) can win the NL batting title tonight but he has Ryan Braun (.335) breathing down his neck. No Met has ever won a batting title.

To be fair, no Brewer has ever won a batting title either.

Last night, David Robertson had his 60th relief game of the season with at least 1 K, which is a new franchise record. He also recorded his 100th K of the season, joining Rivera (once), Goose Gossage (3 times), Joe Page and Jay Howell as the only Yankee relief pitchers to do so.

oh, and Jose Reyes, or whoever made the decision - gash move. Total gash move. Even by Met standards.

Red Sox discussing Bruce Chen trade to start a potential 163rd game.
It might be the craziest thing to ever happen for a team to trade for a new starting pitching to start only a play-in game
