What would you try and save? I know some people will say the old cliche of it doesnt matter if you lose everything its only material and you still have your health. I call BS on that.
What would you go for or go back into a burning house to try and save of yours?

My bookbag, PS3, and games. Could probably just throw it all in my bookbag and get the hell out of there.
That is assuming that I wouldn't have to rescue a member of my family or something.

My dog since it's pretty much the only thing not insured.

I'd run back into a burning building for my dog, and that's about it.
Sure, I would be devastated that my posessions and home were gone but I don't think I have anything that's irreplacable.

My home is insured for the max replacement cost it legally can be because the last thing I want to worry about after a disaster is money. I'd save the wife and cat, then order pizza and beer for the firefighters afterwards.

hate to be that guy, but I hate the phrase "try and" If you're trying AND doing something. Then you aren't trying, you are doing. But what I would try TO save is absolutely nothing. I'd go back into the house, but only to hopefully burn to death.

OK, assuming I wake up in the middle of the night to the heat and smell of smoke, I'd likely just bolt out the door. However, if it seemed mild enough for me to risk trying to grab some things, I'd not grab anything from upstairs (I'd leave my desktop computer, furniture, tvs, dvd players, and Wii to the fire), I'd run downstairs and yank my 360 and PS3 out of the wall, and snatch my laptop and external HD.
So that's:
2 big consoles a laptop a pocketsized 2tb HD
I'm pretty quick, I think I can manage that. If I had to, I'd leave my 360 behind and maybe my laptop... the PS3 and external HD has too much stuff on it I'd like to not lose.
But, I'd be able to hand the material loss. Lost photos and things of the like can make you appreciate actual memories more.
Oh, and I'd grab my cat, but she'd be the first one out the door, likely, not even waiting for me to get her.

Wow, I was just thinking about this last night I would grab, if I had time of course, my computer and my two guitars. Those are the three things that I would have to bring with me, everything else could go if need be.

1. Cats 2. Hard drive with pictures of all my possessions so that the insurance company can't dick me over. I also have them backed up online. 3. Important paper container - one of these days I'll get a safe. 4. Possessions as time allows - there is literally nothing I have that is completely irreplaceable. Maybe case of beer first?
Oh...I should probably get my wife out too...

"Try And" indicates success. There's "try and succeed" which means you have successfully done what you are trying. "Try to succeed" means you wish to be successful but you haven't been yet. I'm not that great with explanations. But because I've been corrected by teachers for saying "try and" so many times. it's just something that has stuck in my head. Here's what the dictionary has to say "Replace try and (I will try and fix it) with try to (I will try to fix it). Some grammarians label try and as incorrect when really it is just very informal and best used in conversation. Try to is standard usage and appropriate for all levels of formality in both speech and writing.
