Now I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, but can somebody explain the appeal of this YouTube channel/show to me? I've watched 5 or 6 episodes, and it doesn't annoy me or anger me or make me weep for humanity or anything like that, but I just don't "get" it. I know they make these big huge piles of food, but it seems like just a waste of food to me. So for fans of the show, what am I missing?

Dude, you like ponies. Stop casting judgement on other stuff. Especially stuff that is meant to be taken as serious-free as possible.

Well, then let me ask you something. What is there to get? I don't know, it's got millions of views - so it obviously has fans. If you're a fan of it, I'm just asking why you like it. I'm not going to cut you down or mock you, I'm just curious is all.

What do you want explained exactly? The guys are good cooks and really creative so it is fun just to see what they come up with most of the time.

Watching what they've done, I wouldn't consider them "good cooks" or very creative (at least not when comparing them to things like Fancy Fast Food). That said, I'm not surprised at the fanbase. People like seeing crazy stuff done with food, and it's undeniable that they do really crazy stuff with food.
And, of course, being an absolute bacon fiend, I have to admire their moxie.

I think most of their popularity is just due to the sheer spectacle factor of it, these guys go out and do a bunch of crazy things with food that the majority of us could never even conceptualize. That and their "in you face" intense attitude resonates well with the Internet crowd.

It's the epitome of excess, and at this point, it's fun watching what they're going to come up with next.

I'd liken it a little to Man vs. Food, only without the challenge aspect. Is it really interesting to see some dude go around to diners and eat 5 pounds of barbecue? Not really. The real show is in seeing the 3 pound burrito or curry made with a bottle of capsaicin extract.

Is it really a waste of food if they eat it all? I can understand how someone might not like them though. For something with more subdued attitude, there's always this predecessor: Pimp That Snack.

People like seeing crazy stuff done with food, and it's undeniable that they do really crazy stuff with food. And, of course, being an absolute bacon fiend, I have to admire their moxie. The main guys aren't really cooks, but I've actually heard from a good source that they DO have trained chefs who do a lot of shows with them. Again, they're just not the main three or four guys, and don't participate in every episode. I only hope the guys slow down a little soon, I'd hate for them to burn out on all their ideas. As for "getting it"...what is there to get? It is what it is, you either find it fun/funny/morbidly fascinating or you don't.

All EMT does is make me super-hungry, and has made me attempt to look for ways to make the same fast food / not-fast food different.
