Most of the LoZ games are a mess. They never give you direction on where to go or what to do, and instead of adding an element of exploration it just leads to headaches running around the same couple of screens trying to see if you missed something. That's mostly the first two, the ones since aLttP give you pretty clear direction.

And I probably should have mentioned that I am a pretty big fan of the series. Don't want to start a flamewar or anything.

I never thought LttP was very hard. I thought the second quest in the original was harder so maybe that toughened me up. My hint to anyone playing the game is to always carry one fairy bottle with you at all times. I know you don't get all your life back, but it helps to avoid the deaths when you are too slow to remember to bring up your potions in time.

I always kept two fairies on me at all time, then threw a blue potion in one bottle and a green in the other.

I don't have any issues with it, but I've probably beaten it atleast 20 times. I could definitely see someone having problems on their first play through, but mine was so long ago I really don't even remember.

Are we talking about the same Link to the Past? That game is freaking easy, especially Ganon's tower. Your momma is freaking easy!

Yeah, I definitely don't recall this game being HARD, but sometimes frustrating yes. I'll always remember getting to the boss of the 3rd dungeon in the light world, getting 5 out of 6 shots on his tail, then he goes nuts and bumps me off the platform and I have to do the fight ALL OVER AGAIN. ARGH. Luckily all of the light world bosses the next time you see them are cake due to you being massively powered up.

Yea that boss was a pain in the ass when I first played this on the GBA, but I managed to beat him pretty easily on the actual SNES version. I guess the screen being bigger helped, or maybe I just got lucky. Really, the bosses aren't much of a pain. I get killed by each boss usually once or twice because I'm not prepared for the fight, but they're really pretty fun. It's just trying to make it to the bosses without losing half of my hearts that's difficult to me.

The game is frustrating but it isn't the hardest game in the world. You may need a walkthrough to get through it the first time, but after that...it's pretty easy. It's probably in my top 5 games of all time. Love everything about it. ANd it's difficulty is perfect for me.

Same, it's easily my favourite LoZ (sorry Ocarina) and I still play it through about once a year. Although, if I don't beat it without losing a life I consider it a disappointing playthough now

I've actually barely played it, but doing this full-series Zelda run building up to Skyward Sword and very eager to get the original game and Adventure of Link over with to get to it. Not played it in like a week though so kind of dragging my ass there - damn Wizrobes and Like-Likes.

Okay, I just beat the game. Haha I died 63 times. About half of those were very early in the game. It's odd, I don't remember dying that much on those first few dungeons. Anyway, after taking a day off from the game and coming back, I ran through Ganon's tower pretty easily. It wasn't hard, it was just annoying going through it the first time. The final boss is pathetically easy as well.
So maybe I was a little harsh earlier, it's definitely a great game but I still say that it's frustrating as hell on a first playthrough. Especially if you're like me and you try not to use walkthroughs.

It's funny how many times I died and how hard the game was my first time, and since then I can beat it in one sitting without dying at all... just to see Total games played:0 at the end. Funny thing is, this is the only video game my mom has every played and beat that I know of. She thought it looked neat when I was a kid and liked the music so I talked her through the game.

Hah, the only game my mom has ever played to my knowledge is Tetris on the OG gameboy. She kicked ass at Tetris though.

While my mom isn't the best in many other ways, at least I can say she's awesome enough to have routinely played Mortal Kombat with my brothers and I when I was like six and they were younger than that, and to have routinely flipped us off when getting a lucky break in Mario Party 3.

I forgot, Tetris isn't the only game my mom played...she also played Wii bowling with us a few times. I specifically remember her playing it on Christmas day a few years ago when my sister got her Wii. She was getting ready to throw for the first time and she said something about "I don't see the point in this wrist strap". My cousin said something like "yea it's pointless, you'd have to be a complete idiot to let go of the controller anyway". Next thing we know the controller is flying across the room and got stuck in the Christmas tree.
