Ha...I'm bored, so here's a stealth Earthbound appreciation thread. Still my fav SNES RPG. Even more the CT, FFVI or Secret of Mana.

Hey, we agree on something for once. Imagine that.

It's no Legend of Zelda, I'll tell ya that.

But can you really consider Zelda an RPG? I always thought it more of an action game.

I love the Mother series. Mother 3 is one of the few games I've broken into earnest, heartfelt tears over. I couldn't follow Itoi's rule of "Don't cry until the end," hahaha.
I consider Zelda to be an adventure game, personally. It doesn't focus quite enough on action to be an action game, and it doesn't have enough RPG elements to be considered an RPG. I know "adventure" games could have a very broad terminology, but I usually use it for stuff like Zelda, Okami, or Shadow of the Colossus.

It's a toss up between Chrono Trigger and Earthbound. Through FFVI in there and it's a real battle on who is the best for me.

Got Secret of Mana on the Virtual Console and after playing about an hour of it never touched it again. Maybe it gets better as it goes - I do intend to give it another shot at some point, probably after I finish my Zelda series run (speaking of, it's going to take me a freaking month just to finish the first two games - don't like them at all), but I just didn't like what I played of it at all.

EarthBound is the best game of all-time. I disagree, while it is a very good game I believe Donkey Kong is the best video game ever...

Chrono Trigger, most definitely. No other game pulled on the emotions on the SNES as much as this game. IMHO of course.

"Mother 3" should deserve a spot on the list, because the GBA was basically an SNES with a less impressive soundboard. And it had a helluva storyline.

Super Mario RPG, it is the only one just for me... Agreed. Super Mario RPG just has tons of nostalgia value for me as it was the first RPG I ever played, but even now I realize that it was damn near perfect. Great graphics, great music, perfect difficulty level, and a fun story. Chrono Trigger is a close second though, with Earthbound right up there with it. Honestly, the only thing that keeps Earthbound from being better than Chrono Trigger IMO is the outdated first person battle style.

I respect every bodies opinion their favorite SNES RPG.
That being said anybody who does not say Final Fantasy III/VI is wrong.
