Looking back at the male alumni from NXT who haven't been a World Champion, as in all but one of them, I realized that most of these guys have no chance in hell of making it as a World Champion, and only a couple should even have the door left open as to being one in the future. So I ask this question:
Who from NXT do you think the door should be left open for in terms of possibly being a World Champion in the future?
I voted for Wade Barrett, Skip Sheffield, Brodus Clay, Justin Gabriel, and Connor O'Brian. The first two I think are still likely possibilities, while the last 3 I'm simply leaving the door open for based on skill set in certain areas.

Wade is fit for it. He will be champion in the future. Skip can probably be champion. I see Brodus having the ability to as well as long as he evolves his gimmick.

Wade is the only totally obvious choice. Gabriel and Slater should both get runs in the mid card for years to come, Clay I just don't think has it in him to be champ, and Skip could be a powerhouse but I don't see champ either. I think Husky Harris has the best shot outside of Wade honestly, because he has a surprising amount of agility and talent for his build, and he's pretty damn charismatic.

Right at this moment... now... at this present moment in history... sorry, anyway... the only person I could conceivebly see as a World Champion is Wade and even then I'm a little eh on it...
Then again maybe one on them stumbles onto a gimmick that catches fire with the audience.

Wade. Heath Slater could work however if he was given absolutely zero buildup and just sort of won the title via rollup on a random raw.
He is so...easy to hate that if he actually won the title with zero buildup people would hate him SO FREAKING MUCH like they would legitimately want to punch him. Their hatred for him wouldn't be much different than their hatred for Jericho's segments, at least.
And that would make him a hilariously effective heel champ.
Fans:"SOMEBODY GET THE TITLE OFF HIM. HE'S FREAKING HEATH SLATER. HE DOESN'T DESERVE THE TITLE."
[Slater escapes with the title thanks to DQ]
Fans:"ARGGGH I HATE YOU HEATH SLATER"
Slater:"SLATERS GONNA SLATE!"

I think a few of them could manage, but Barrett and Otunga are the only ones with a chance of ever getting there.

Wade is built to be a world champion. He has the wrestling skills, he has the presence, he has the mic skills. It's only a matter of time. I'll say he'll win it sometime around Summerslam this year.
Outside of him no one else can be a "world champion" right now. I can see Otunga and Slater both winning the IC and US titles eventually but that's not right now and that's if they work at it. Especially Slater man something is up with that guy. I don't know what it is but just something. Like say Gabriel wins the IC belt from Cody when Rhodes is ready to move up I could see Slater beating him for it. That's the only way I can see him getting a belt.

Based on whom they seem willing to push anywhere near the main event: Wade, A Ry(not so much for now) and Otunga.

Wade Barry for sure. He's unbelievably good at how he carries himself. His snarly tone/accent, the entrance jacket, how quick he is on his wits on commentary, and recently he's worn different colored attire and let his hair go messy in the ring, which as trite as it sounds, it helps create further depth to his whole persona. He's not a bad wrestler at all and has size as his advantage on top of it. He's a bonafide future top talent.

Wade and I think given a chance in a few years (although he is getting up there in years I believe) Titus may have a shot as well.

Barrett.
I'm in the few that thinks he should have been WWE Champion before Miz was, and Mania XXVII should have been Barrett as WWE Champion vs. Cena, and THEN we could end Nexus.
Alas, was not to be.

Wade Barrett is the most ready out of all of them, I could see Ryback/Sheffield returning and getting a push similar to Sheamus first push, Gabriel could get a midcard title this year, Slater I can see as a low carder for life, Otunga will probably go the way of Nowinski.
Most the current NXT flock seems to be beyond repair, Titus and Young are just too generic, Curtis, Watson and Bateman could turn into promising midcarders at best.
Cottonwood will probaby be released or will return as a bodyguard or with a comedy gimmick, Saxton has potential to be a good heel like The Miz and I've always liked Conor O'Brian's look and ring skills, all about putting the peices together.

Wade could be champion right now and it wouldn't seem strange. I think that Derrick Bateman could be great one day. Watching FCW has convinced me that Husky Harris is the second coming of Stone Cold, so I voted for him. I put both halves of Slaybriel down, as I think it's possible they could make it one day, though I don't see it happening any time in the near future. And I also voted for McGillicutty cos I felt a bit sorry for him.

Wade is already a main eventer, so him winning the title is just a matter of time. I think Bateman will be a big star, maybe not world champion, but I think he will become one of the more popular guys one day. Right now I'm enjoying Johnny Curtis' work on NXT, if he keeps this creepy gimmick for a while I could really get over on the main shows. I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that he could be a world champion one day.

Begins and ends with Wade. Pair him up with a good manager and maybe Mcguillicutty can be something.

Barrett is the only one WWE seems to have any faith in, so I pick him by default.

1) Wade Barrett. This is his year.
Three years later... 2) Justin Gabriel. Probably via MITB contract. He's marketable and getting TV time.
Sometime in the unforeseen future... 3) David Otunga. 4) Alex Riley.
