Of course he's going to make you think he was going to win, he's Chris Jericho!

I think he's going for a "boy that cried wolf" thing. He keeps saying "it'll be the end of the world as you know it" and not delivering, just like real life threats of a "rapture" or what have you. The question is though, where does that actually lead?
I've got a feeling he's going to put his career on the line at WrestleMania for a title shot, and lose.

A Harold Camping gimmick would be f****** brilliant.

In all honesty.. It was a fresh winner with great potential and good in ring ability. People are never satisfied! 1) we want a fresh winner 2) Jericho said something.. I want him! 3) Well at least it isn't Orton.. Really guys?? come on.. The guy is good in the ring and fun to watch as a heel or face. Im honestly excited to see how they book him. Im looking forward to it This is as ridiculous as the people last year saying "YOU GUYS WANTED TNA TO PUSH NEW GUYS.. WELL THEY'RE PUSHING CRIMSON AND GUNNER! QUIT COMPLAINING!"

He was legit trying to win, and he lost. He wasn't trolling. He blew whatever he was planning. That's the feeling I got too, and it's perfect. Jericho's supposed to be the heel (well, he's always prefered to play a heel, and has never been more than mediocre as a face), but he's still getting cheered; having his grand plans anticlimactically fail to come to fruition, not as part of some grand master swerve but because he simply isn't good enough to get the job done, is one way to get the fans irritated at him.

The whole Jericho return has been a major failure thus far. Its going to take some major rehabbing to avoid his match from completely getting last in the shuffle at Mania.
We got vignettes hyping up "she" as being a big part of his return so with that past history with Stephanie and Punks issues with HHH and the McMahon we could have had a powerful heel faction running Raw and passed on the easy money.
So now one month into his run we have no explanation for the promos, several weeks with no payoffs in his segments in which has caused them to tank in ratings each week. Then when he finally does speak its promising something big at the RR and once there he was just another guy and got tossed by a guy who hasn't had a meaningful match since last April.
Jericho has no heat or direction 2 months away Wrestlemania when he could be fully heated coming off the Rumble and lined up for his match with Punk giving them time to sell it.
Also by passing on the Heel power faction they make it even harder on themselves to sell HHH vs Taker again. They could have gotten a portion of the people to buy into Taker getting beat if he had to overcome Jericho and Steph with Hunter.
Jericho becomes champ at Wrestlemania and HHH is put out of action again by Taker. While he's gone the sexual tension between Jericho and Stephanie finally leads to a relationship. HHH comes back pissed in several months leading to the Summerslam main event where you have Steph screw over HHH to cost him his revenge. You could sting that out until next Mania if you wanted with the endgame of Stephanie eventually seeing her mistake and going back to her husband for the fairytale ending with HHH retiring.

I've loved everything he's been doing since he got back, but I agree that tonight was... I don't want to say let down but I can't think of another phrase.
Of course, I do expect answers tomorrow night on Raw, so I'll reserve my real judgement until then.
