Sure. No doubt about that. However, Miz was responsible for making the catch and he didn't. He is lucky that Truth wasn't hurt worse. Learning experience for Miz.

R TRUTH UPDATE by Mike Johnson @ 1:05 AM on 2/7/2012
Believe it or not, despite being very sore, R Truth was OK after being checked out by WWE medical personnel.
Truth was legitimately pulled from the match by WWE management after he smacked the back of his head on the mats outside the ring during a dive that missed Miz. The basic body of the match remained the same but they needed to adjust from what was initially planned.
Miz was being blamed for the spot going awry. There was a ton of heat on him from WWE management, including Triple H, backstage after the Raw taping.

Was it uglier looking than Takers botched dive at Wrestlemania 25?

It was indeed Miz's fault, but from his positioning, the only thing he could have done was shift his body left which makes it seem like he was trying to get hit by the average fan watching.
Either way, I'm just glad Truth is alright.

After his snooze-worthy performance in the Rumble and now this, I'd send Miz to FCW for re-education and give his spot to Ambrose or Cesaro.

Miz should be released because he sucks at everything. I don't know what sort of deal with the devil he made to make it this far but enough is enough.

I hope Truth isn't hurt too bad, but I feel really bad for Miz right now. He was probably crying and beating himself up backstage over this. This was just an off night for him. He should be punished for the botch, maybe even depushed, but I hope his career doesn't get crushed. Poor guy.

Man, people overreact. John Cena botched a move atop of a freaking steel cage and almost broke Miz's neck. It was a mistake. You can hate Miz as a character, wrestler, etc. all you want, but he doesn't have a track record of injuring people. Of course someone like Cena didn't get heat for almost killing the guy, but Miz will get the brunt of it since he's already in HHH and Vince's dog house for somehow making the tag match at Survivor Series not sell enough.
People botch moves and injure people all the time. Beth Phoenix BROKE Eve's nose tonight and no one is demanding she get fired or sent back to FCW to learn how to work. When this becomes a recurring thing, then sure, talk about firing or letting the guy go, but this is just one damn thing.
If the WWE released a guy who last year was flying around the globe, doing a great job promoting their product for WrestleMania, then they're idiots.

I really cannot understand Miz's line of thinking during that spot. "Oh wow a guy is doing a high risk spot, better move outta the way!!!".
Further proof that he's got the mindset and skills of a day one rookie. I know he won't get released for this (although I hope it's considered a sort of 'strike one'), but hopefully he does get the punishment he deserves for screwing up such a simple spot and putting Truth's life at risk. Eliminate him asap from the Elimination Chamber, give him a few weeks relegated to Superstars and dark matches before Raw.

Why did he move to his right? I don't even get it.
These guys have worked together for a while now, it's not like it was some surprise.

Personally, I don't think Miz should carry all the blame on this one. Truth was already springing into the air before Miz had even gotten to his feet. As has been mentioned before, Miz had already planted his left foot when Truth leaves the ground, so the only direction he can move as he stands up is right. His own momentum is taking him out of Truth's path and there was very little he could have done to change that.

Glad he's ok, and the above post sums up my thoughts nicely. Blame mostly goes for the Miz but yeah I think Truth jumped the gun a little bit too. Shit happens, and since everyone's OK, live and learn. Miz should've gotten yelled at once he got backstage (and it sounds like Trips and Vince covered that), but anything outside of a short punishment seems excessive. Calling for him to be fired/sent to FCW made me legit LOL. Oh noes, he had a bad night and almost got someone injured - quick, get rid of him before he turns into the unholy spawn of Mabel/Khali/Kennedy!

Happy he is ok and nothing is broken. He must have strong bones. R-Truth has an adamantium skeleton.

That gif makes it look even worse than I remembered it.
Miz is pretty much in position, then slides over to his right. I dunno what the hell he was thinking. I'm usually not one to harp on botches, but that was the worst screw up I've seen since Riley eliminated himself from the Rumble.

It was a mistake, a bad mistake but that's all. Should Miz lose his job? No, of course not.
If this had been Nattie Neidhart or some other beloved IWC darling botching and injuring someone there would have been ton's of whiteknighting and guys insisting that she doesnt lose to deserve her job. When it's the Miz, who the IWC no longer loves, its fine to demand for him to lose his job.
Owen Hart almost paralyzed the brightest up and coming (at that point) star WWF had in Stone Cold. He didn't get fired.

Miz is pretty much in position, then slides over to his right. I dunno what the hell he was thinking. Thinking doesn't come into it, it's all basic mechanics. There was very little, if anything at all, that Miz could have done differently. Okay, try this for yourself: kneel on the ground and try to get up to a standing position with the intent of catching a man dropping down on top of you, putting your left foot on the ground first, and doing so as quickly as possible. In the act of just standing up your body's momentum will first cause the shift to the right as you use your right leg to stand up, and as you raise your arms above your head to catch, your body's momentum will shift again causing you to lean back and away from the position you started from - it is physically impossible to do otherwise without aid. Miz was in position when he was getting to his feet. In order to stay in position he would have had to remain kneeling, which would have been extremely dangerous for both him and Truth. All this was just a case of mistiming. Truth took to the air before Miz was even set (which wasn't a clever idea to begin with) and Miz couldn't re-adjust his position quick enough to break Truth's fall.
