I hate being one of "those" guys who dislikes, as I've noticed many people on these boards appreciate his heel turn. I will agree, this turn has let him show better mic skills.
However, I think Bryan could've made a great face champion. I'm a fan of the underdog, and Bryan could've played this role so well. He could've been booked as a guy who pretty much gets his ass kicked during the whole match, but if he can somehow catch you with the Labelle Lock, it's over. He would have a lot of come from behind victories, and who doesn't like seeing that?
I think WWE is missing out on making Big Show a "monster" heel one last time, building towards a WHC match with Bryan at WM. It could be booked as a modern day David vs Goliath.
Thoughts? I'm open for friendly debate (if such a thing exists on the interwebs)

I love it. I was a fan of face Bryan, but his heel turn is amazing. Don't want to make this too Star Wars-esque, but his heel turn has been like Anakin into Darth Vader. Here was the good clean cut underdog promising to cash in at Mania, only to be influenced by "evil" Big Show to change, only to have it bite show in the butt.
Add in cute and spunky AJ, which went from being a love story to one of him using her, obvious to everyone except her, with Big Show the one who started it, trying to rescue her.
This is pure Gold. They could have went the heel Show route, but I think it would have been to hard and drawn out to have him doing the same thing with Show, for another 5-6 months, that we was just doing with Mark Henry for months earlier.

I think Bryan will have a Rock like turn. He was a face and it wasn't going as well as they'd hope so he's a heel now. He's becoming his character through being a heel. He's improving all around, just taking control. He has massive heat but I think in the future eventually it'll be turned around. He'll then turn face with his new character and it'll work well.

Gimmick-wise, now he's a poor man's version of SES CM Punk.

I just think the whole "vegan" thing is WWE pandering to PETA. I mean when CM Punk did it with the SES, it was fine since drinking, smoking, and drugs are obviously bad for you. I'm sure that meat can be too, but it just screams "PETA sponsored this!" to me.

Other than the Vegan stuff, his character work as a heel has been superb so far. Heels always have more layers than faces, and he has taken advantage of that completely. His facial expression last Friday as he went from putting AJ at ease to gloating at Big Show was probably one of the best acted facial expressions I've ever seen in wrestling.
Wrestling wise, he is so suited to the underdog face role its crazy. Probably doesn't help that he is half the size of his opponent.

I think bryan had been f***ed around with too much as a face for him not to turn.
I mean from his losing streak on nxt to getting bumped from mania to floating around to winning mitb to jobbing for months and sometimes being relegated to superstars to cole constantly reinforcing him being ineffective...it was kinda the best option. They made him look awful,so they had to turn that negative into a positive and make him an undeserving chickenshit heel champion.
He's got to get that stigma off him. The best way is to embrace it. He could come out of this alot better.
But to be fair, this is wwe. It could lead nowhere. I think bryan is someone who is great at both but I think as a heel he kinda shines. He suits it.

That "David vs. Goliath" type booking has been done so many times already that I'm glad they're taking a fresher approach.

I much prefer him as a heel, but they really should drop the vegan stuff. It just doesn't really add anything, IMHO.

I love Daniel Bryan as a heel. It's made me become a regular SmackDown viewer, and I haven't watched SmackDown regularly since...I don't remember.

Uber-face Daniel Bryan was too "Bob Backlund" in that he appeared too clean-cut and goody-goody to catch on with most of the crowd.
Heel Daniel Bryan is more "Mr. Backlund" in that his heelish ways bring out more layers to his character and his facial expressions and in-ring intensity have really stood out more so than his face run.
Hell....Daniel Bryan vs. Bob Backlund in his prime would've been a great match.

Heel? Daniel Bryan is the most sympathetic babyface in all of the WWE! The man is promoting a healthy lifestyle and is defending his tiny girlfriend's honor. He IS a role model!

Bryan takes offense to the DiBiase Posse parties, and the never ending but always awesome Bryan vs. DiBiase matches resumes.

I agree with you. I like Bryan as the underdog face, he was great at it. Now he's just another bland better than you heel who uses underhanded tactics to keep the belt.
Now, if he were a ruthless heel that used his extensive submission knowledge to harm opponents in a multitude of ways, thus giving him a sort of unexpected monster heel push, that would be cool.
But this... meh.

Got to disagree with you there. Keeping Bryan as a face would have been a terrible move. They've done the right thing and taken him the CM Punk route. Turning him heel now, letting him develop his character and get some heat will help him turn face again down the road and become a bigger star.

I normally hate how WWE turns it's heels into these guys who can barely win a match and has to cheat to escape as champion (cf: The Miz, Christian), but DB is a fantastic exception. He just plays the role of an obnoxious coward who really believes he's a good guy so well.
