I was on Roadkill's Wiki page yesterday, and while I knew he was obviously associated with the relaunched ECW in it's very first few weeks, I also knew that he had been sent down to OVW and had changed his gimmick, grown his hair out and even started wearing tights. Apparently Vince was a big fan and wanted to give him a midcard push on RAW as a monster heel but he ended up being released.
Now obviously I never saw any of Roadkill in OVW, but was his gimmick there any good? Was he just a generic monster heel? He must've done something to make Vince want him called up.

I remember hearing about that when he was first brought in. Vince was pretty high on Sandman too.

I just think Roadkill is really underrated as a big man, but that's just me.

All I remember is that they called him Braddock and made him wear an unflattering outfit of short trunks with no shirt.

I remember hearing about that when he was first brought in. Vince was pretty high on Sandman too. Vince absolutely loves the Sandman for some reason. Him getting a mini-push on Raw was entirely because Vince thought he was a really good guy

Now imagine the hilarity if they scripted the Sandman to be Vince McMahon's illegitimate lovechild instead of Hornswaggle. Sandman inheriting McMahon's fortunes and a stake in the WWE would have been gold. Free beer for everyone!

Roadkill got a pretty good push in 2001. He showed up on The Real World and was the first wrestler to ever go face to face with The Miz. That's something, right?

I remember a story that went around that some of the WWE higher ups were shocked how short he was in person. Apparently Roadkill wore lifts in his boots.

Yeah I do recall his OVW work, though I had to jog the memory a bit. Suffice to say without the Roadkill gimmick he was just a generic fat guy with marginal skills. I think they also made him stop doing the rope walking spot since it was a UT spot. What was the the point of signing him then?

I remember using to constantly making fun of him at OVW shows after he went shirtless. It also helped that the guy was almost always a jerk to fans (Cassidy Riley was the other I use to hound)

Antoni Polaski If WWE heads in the way of old NWA, get ready to see more of this kind of wrestler... And I will be happy

The urban legend is that Vince was high on him in OVW, then met him in person and saw that he was only 5'9" aka shorter than Vince, and he was done.

Antoni Polaski For some reason he reminds me of Paul Giamatti facially. Anyway, I reckon they should've just reformed the Doring/Roadkill tag team on ECW - I'm sure they would've been good to put other teams over. I know they used the FBI for that, but the brand could've had a tag division of its own.

It could have been worth a laugh.
