I know that Cena doesn't seem as broken down as a lot of the other, older guys, but I just can't fathom how he has kept up the schedule that he has for the past few years. That Raw where he didn't appear 3 or 4 weeks ago is the only Raw that I remember him missing in the two years since I started back watching, I mean even when he was "fired" he was still there. But not only that, he seems to be at every house show, makes hundreds of public appearances every year, and somehow has time to act in those crappy WWE produced movies and those Nickelodeon shows he shows up on. I mean even Hogan got time off to make his movies. I just fear that they are running him into the ground, and I've got to imagine he is broken down a lot more than it seems.

I feel bad for Rey considering how bad of shape he's in and how young he is. All these knee surgeries and dude isn't even 40 yet.

I would also add that he's probably over-muscular and hasn't aged very well either which could be a sign of how much it's taking out of him.

sometimes I wonder how I can support an artform or sport where a career ends in being near cripple if not actually one. you couldn't stop the performers from wanting to do it, so I guess there will always be fans like we are

Foley can't put his socks and shoes on without help? Where did you guys read that? I've never heard of that before. That's shocking, wow.
And Cena is aging badly. He looks older than Jericho, stressed out, all the work on his shoulders, it's time for someone else to take over. His match with Rock will be the biggest of his career likely. I really hope they find a replacement because Cena needs some off time for a bit.
Taker is probably the most beaten up and then Rey behind him. Khali's bad too and beyond those too I'm not sure. Orton's been damaged but he isn't too damaged yet. Just some stuff here and there, could be worse.

He had to ask for help from his "swapped" partner to help put on his socks and shoes. And apparently does this EVERYDAY! Man is busted up!

If you need an overall benchmark, choose André instead of Foley..at the end of his career, he could barely walk. If you go with injuries only, Rey and Taker can't work 2 fights in a row without being injured, with Randy going the same route. I think a guy like Matt Hardy deserves an "honorable" mention, as he's broken physically AND mentally now...

Andre and Khali would probably have had the same problems if they never became wrestlers. Wrestling may have accelerated it, but their size/conditions are beyond what the human body can tolerate.

On the current roster? Rey.
Honorable Mention overall? Lex Luger.

Less overbulking, less concussions, and less crazy stunts.

Of the currently active wrestlers because I don't think we should include retired wrestlers....it's assume they are broken down. I'd vote Hogan for retired anyway. As for active: It's a toss up between Rey and Taker. To me Taker is semi-retired so I feel Rey edge's him out because he plans to wrestle more than one match a year and he has a habit of actually missing Wrestlemanias. EDIT: I know Khali's knees are shot but I maybe I'm underestimating his injuries. If he's that far gone...why is he back to just do squash matches against jobbers? I feel he's got more left in his tank that we might think. He's never been real agile anyway and doesn't need to be for his style. Khali looks immobile, but he's always been immobile. I think the problem stems from his left knee giving him some grief (if you watched his entrance Monday, he grimaced at one point moving that leg, and wasn't that the same leg he used to big boot Wade at EC?). It doesn't matter if you have acromegaly (Andre the Giant) or just came from a line of really tall people (Khali), because very tall & large people deal with these kinds of problems throughout their lives. But, yeah, of the legit broken down guys, Rey's one of them, given all of his operations and that he rushed to the ring too fast in recent years. Plus, doesn't Undertaker have a damaged right shoulder that's beyond repair?

The ironic thing is that Foley foreshadowed just that during that promo in early 98 or so after he and Terry Funk were laid out by DX in the steel cage.

This thread is the reason I'll never understand people giving The Rock shit for leaving whilst still healthy.

We love the art-form as much as they do I guess. I bet most guys who have broken their bodies in the name of pro wrestling wouldn't swap that for a boring life in an office job or working in a supermarket or something. They do what they love and we love to watch them do it. The least we can do is appreciate what they do, or it really would be for nothing. To quote Bruce Springsteen, "I can make you smile when the blood, it hits the floor. Tell me, friend, can you ask for anything more?"

I would say Khali is the worst, he looks like he is in pain when walking to the ring, some others would be undertaker who can still put on a great match but he can no longer work a full schedule, also Ric Flair
