Which WWE game do you enjoy more: Smackdown V: Here Comes The Pain or Day of Reckoning 2?

Here Comes the Pain, which was more well-rounded and a pretty damn good game. This is not to say that Day of Reckoning II was terrible, however. (The stamina stuff I never really liked, though>)

The Day of Reckonings were a lot of fun. Great controls. Good Graphics. Awesome multiplayer & a decent story mode. It only lacked a season mode.

DoR2. HCTP was great, don't get me wrong, but there was something about DoR2 that put it head and shoulders above everything else from the last generation of gaming. It just had a lot better feel to it. You could go out there and have a competitive 30-45 minute match with the CPU and not get bored once. The engine they used just seemed to capture a little bit more realism than HCTP. Can't forget that you could make nearly perfect CAWS thanks to the logo creator. It's amazing that DoR2 came out when it did and it still took THQ/Yukes YEARS to bring the best of it to the SmackDown franchise, like the logo creator, revamped HIAC, move interruption, apron grapples, matches that could actually be difficult, & the Shiranui Kai(!!).

Here Comes the Pain. I had so much fun with that game. I still go back and mess around on it every once in a while.

DoR 2 because of character specific reversals, rise up styles, wrestlers actually sell moves(even if it can be overkill sometimes), moves like the Demon Neck crank and a much better looking burning hammer, the camera angles during moves looked better, and a lot of the animations in HCTP really irk me(alot of them are either too cartoony looking or are from SD1).
The only thing I think HCTP has over it is Times Square.
I prefer DoR1 & WMXIX to either of them, though.

You covered it perfectly. DoR2 just felt right. Me and my friend always had a blast playing tag team TLC matches.

Great post. HCTP was good but DOR2 is the greatest of all time.

I hated DoR2. It had the most awful AI in any wrestling game that I have ever played.

I haven't played HCTP, but DOR2 is better than anything THQ is doing now.

DOR 2. I though HCTP was really good but The DOR were honestly some of the best wrestling games I've ever played.

Sometimes them guessing all subs right on Expert and only being able to have a sub in for 2 seconds etc can be annoying but...still tolerable.

I loved Wrestlemania XIX alot more than DoR II, i thought it was the best wrestling game of that time. As for the Day Of Reckoning games, i thought the AI was too cheap. They reversed every move, and it contributed to alot of rage for me.
But as far as the creation suite, lets just say that WWE 12 hasn't even fully captured the greatness of DoR's Creation Suite.
The Entrances were great, and it was actual gameplay. Instead of the crappy pre-rendered entrances in the Smackdown series that still takes place to day. Lets not forget the graphical ability on the gamecube outweighed the PS2 in that time period.

HCTP is the better single player experience. DoR 2 multiplayer is amazing though.

Here Comes the Pain had way better features, but Day of Reckoning 1 and 2 had FAR better gameplay. If the DOR games had bigger rosters and proper season modes, they'd be king of the WWE games.

Krimzon nailed it on DOR2.
It's very close for me, while I did enjoy the over the topness of HCTP, DOR2 just had the better mechanics to me. Half my hours in DOR2 was the fatal 4 way last man standing mode, I loved that.

I haven't played SvR11 or WWE 12 yet, but am I correct in thinking that they STILL haven't made a HIAC match that's as fun as in the Gamecube games? Seriously, the stuff you could do in HIAC in those games was so damn fun. You could like...do a burning hammer through the roof onto a trashcan in the ring. Or if lined the move up just right, you could tombstone someone through the roof to the outside of the ring. You could do a frogsplash through the hole in the roof to an opponent in the ring, or a leg drop from the roof through the annonce table (something they took out of the Smackdown series after the 2nd or 3rd game). You could do a suicide dive that knocked your opponent through the cell wall. I always hated HIAC matches in the Smackdown games because you just couldn't do anything fun. Falling through the cell was just the same crappy animation regardless of the move. It's like everything that COULD be fun was just handled by a cutscene. Sure, it looks great...the first time, but I much preferred the endless possibilities of the GC games.
