Either make the joke about Benoit and Guerrero being dead or quit pussyfooting around it.

He was talking about journeyman wrestlers. Guys who would work in Canada or the States, then Mexico, then Europe, then Japan and stuff like that. Basically he was saying that he wasn't a generic guy from the FCW Clone Factory.

Jericho has the same point to be made at HHH/Taker....just from a different view.
There aren't guys like Jericho anymore. It just doesn't happen all that much now. Punk was sorta close to it but never did overseas tours that I know of.
As for HHH/Taker - the guys from their generation are gone now. Either dead/retired/fired. They won't ever be replaced.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Things are so different now compared to when to when this dying breed was coming up. The wrestlers nowdays don't feel, tough I guess. They don't seem to have the drive and determination. I wish there was still some real competition for the WWE, it would do wonders for them.

Bryan is probably as close as it gets right now. Toured Europe through the summer of 2005, indy champion, tours in Mexico, champion in a major Japanese promotion. And I still wouldn't quite put him on the same level of sheer experience that Jericho's generation was able to get as journeymen.

I really hope we get our Ziggler vs Foley match just to top off the New vs Old thing they're going for.

I swear the Rock should be brought into this somewhere. He is also from the same breed as HHH and Undertaker is he not?

The theme for this 'Mania has been the previous generation v. This one for a while now, we all knew it was coming once the main event was announced, what with the youth push and everything. WWE All Stars was another part of the marketing towards this.

It's fascinating to me that this entire Wrestlemania is more or less "Attitude vs. Brand Split," in the same way that Wrestlemania X8 was WWF vs. WCW. The two wrestlers who were around for both eras are going at it in an all-or-nothing go-for-broke Hell in a Cell. The biggest star of the current era is facing off with the last era's biggest star. The current WWE champion is wrestling someone who was arguably his counterpart in the Attitude Era, as he establishes himself as The Man for WWE. Cody Rhodes is on his way up, and making a point of Big Show's long and storied history in the promotion. And this all coincides with John Cena being gradually dialed back as the number one star, in favor of CM Punk in the short term and possibly Zack Ryder in the long term. The only announced match that doesn't follow this New vs. Old theme is Bryan vs. Sheamus, which is just a classic well-booked heel champion on the way to meeting his match. Interesting. and since this WM's theme seems to be "Attitude vs Current" I'll put in my 2 cents and I know this match'll never happen but why put Eve vs Stephanie McMahon in an evil bitch match (Stephanie was around in the AE too if I recall correctly) but hey a girl can dream.

The fact that he emphasized 'Literal' suggests he was talking about Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit. It makes sense as well. He is from a background of wrestlers that put themselves through hell and then some to prove their abilities.

I dont want to get my hopes up but a PPV of just The Dying Breed against the New Guys wouldn't be a bad idea. I'd pay. John Cena and CM Punk vs. Triple H and Undertaker Chris Jericho vs. Daniel Bryan "If Booker T wins, he no longer owes a favor" Booker T vs. Randy ORton Dolph Ziggler vs. Christian Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara Goldust vs. Cody Rhodes Kane, Mark Henry, and Big Show vs. Brodus Clay, Kofi Kingston, and R-Truth
