Ok so watching the Monday night wars on Classics on Demand we keep seeing the Giant coming out on Nitro and helping Chris Jericho win matches. I don't remember why or how this ended, but was this strange alliance ever explained?

Ok so watching the Monday night wars on Classics on Demand we keep seeing the Giant coming out on Nitro and helping Chris Jericho win matches. I don't remember why or how this ended, but was this strange alliance ever explained? It was because Jericho's heel act had taken off so much by then Bischoff wanted Jericho to join the NWO, and having the Giant helping Chris was the way to do it. But Jericho turned him down so he wouldn't become watered down in the midcard, but for what ever reason Bischoff insisted that the Giant still came to Jericho's aide despite Jericho not having anything to do with NWO.

The internet is amazing. Someone comes up with an interesting, but incredibly obscure question about a wrestling show from 14 years ago, and about 45 minutes later, someone posts a video of the man involved addressing the issue.
I sound like my grandfather being bewildered by television or something, but I'm still amazed.

Sad to think that this happened 14 years ago. Doesn't that make ya feel old? Damn I was 11 back then... I'm depressed now.

It was the Rise and Fall of WCW, but with all the business they did, it was the Rise and Rise of FedEx.

Here's a couple other quotes from Jericho's first book that are related to WCW mailing room incompetence.
"While the nWo was making hundreds of thousands off of merch, I once received a royalty check in the mail for 0 dollars and 0 cents. Stamps costs 37 cents...what was the sense in even mailing it?"
"The commercial was top comedy and helped me sells some shirts too. I know this because my next royalty check was for 0 dollars and 37 cents."

I don't even remember The Giant helping Jericho, but I only watched WCW during RAW's commercials.

I really don't remember this too well, at what point in 98 was this? I still watched Nitro until '99 where he became completely unwatchable and I don't remember this. I do remember hearing that Bischoff wanted Jericho in the nWo and he refused, which ultimately lead to him getting pushed down the card and going to the WWF.

It was in the summer, August 98.
Was it Jericho who told the story of how his WCW action figures came up on the register as indicating that it was a Hogan figure that was purchased?

I think that's an urban legend that's never been confirmed or denied. It's on that long List of Wrestling Sleaze. That's pretty messed up if it's true. I still believe one of WCW's biggest mistakes was not keeping Jericho happy and letting him go to the WWF. The crowd reaction for his first appearance on Raw tells the story, people wanted to see him.
