Striker had a tendency to overdo some his quirks to the point of sheer insanity. Every wrestler would have about 20 nicknames listed out in about 5 seconds (Christian, Captain Charisma, The Igniter, The Flashpoint, The Livewire...). And then there were his backstories that made absolutely no sense. I remember one of the last Smackdowns he did had a Royal Rumble style battle royal with jobbers involved. Every time a new appeared, Striker went into self parody mode and just gave all of them Russo-esque personas out of nowhere. I dont mind that, hes just trying to get guys over. They dont get any promo time. And I LOVED that bit where Christian came out and Striker reeled off nicknames comparing him to a superhero. It makes Christian look like a big deal.

I can see why people wouldn't, but personally loved his insanity even when(and to be honest especially when) his insanity went over the top.

Striker: And this young man is a former Western States Heritage Champion.... Cole (being gullible): How do you know this stuff?! Striker: And this next participant is the Florida Brass Knuckles champion. Josh: Oh, come on, Matt!

I love this.
Striker on commentary went from loved to hated in the span of a few months, to the point he had hate threads and some people even saying they would rather King over him and now he hasnt been on for a while, people are wanting him back.
I love people!
Striker really is brilliant, and I'm glad people are remembering that fact.

Rather than Coles "TAP OUT TAP OUT TAP OUT" and listening to King mark out for tits and Cena.

Am I wrong that there was never any indication.... or even rumor... that "I'm marking out!" affected Striker's career at all one way or the other? I'm pretty sure that was just something people in the forum speculated about.

I'd see it exactly the opposite way; Booker T replaced Striker on the Smackdown commentary team immediately after the Rumble, and I seriously doubt he was suddenly offered the position as a last minute thing. More likely, Booker taking over in Striker's place was already in the cards weeks before the Rumble.
