See, that's how a heel commentator completely ripping apart a babyface wrestler is supposed to work.
Cole, take notes.

I was thinking the same thing. It put both Ryder AND Kidd over. Kidd as he was being hyped the entire match, and Ryder because that "I admit, I was wrong about Ryder" line was perfect.

Remember a few months ago when Striker was THE go-to guy in WWE? He was on Smackdown, NXT, Superstars, PPV's and even Raw at times. One "I'm marking out, Bro!" Royal Rumble later....

It sucks that one or two slip ups on PPV such as CENAS FREE and IM MARKING OUT BRO cost Striker his position. In fairness, he was neutered by Coles yelling and Lawlers idiocy.

I've been meaning to ask when did Striker say those things? Survivor Series as Orton pinned Barrett, and Royal rumble when Booker T came out.

Yeah it aint fair that he lost his spot due to Cole and King bitching and a few slip ups, hell Cole gave away the ending to Austin-Rock so everyone makes mistakes. Why should Matt have to take a backseat to guys who don't put any passion into their jobs. I mean listen to Cole in 2002-2003 when he would introduce the show and even though many dislike him I always felt he put passion into that and that was when he was passionate about his job. Now he just says it out and buries people. Back on subject they need to give Matt proper air time.

On Heat before Mania 15 they were advertising plaques with pieces of the canvas with whichever guy won being on them, and Cole said something like, "You can get one of the new WWF Champion Stone Cold!.... Or The Rock."

It's a damn Shame that Striker is not on one of the main shows.

That occurred in 1999, and the WWE didn't start actually overly relying on Cole until like 2008.

At the time, JR wasn't commentating and the main team was King and Cole. so yeah, they were kinda relying on him then.

My problem with Striker is that everything he says sounds like something that the voice over would say during movie trailers.

Striker had a tendency to overdo some his quirks to the point of sheer insanity. Every wrestler would have about 20 nicknames listed out in about 5 seconds (Christian, Captain Charisma, The Igniter, The Flashpoint, The Livewire...). And then there were his backstories that made absolutely no sense. I remember one of the last Smackdowns he did had a Royal Rumble style battle royal with jobbers involved. Every time a new appeared, Striker went into self parody mode and just gave all of them Russo-esque personas out of nowhere.

I don't think him saying "Cena's free" was a slip up, I think he meant it in an ironic way that Cena was free from the Nexus because he was fired from WWE
