What did everyone think of this movie, I took a chick there on a date, and was so engrossed in the movie I couldn't mess around. The swerve ending was extra Russo. I think it's in my top movie list. Very good characters.

Man, that ending kinda lingered with me. Both my best friend and I had a total "WTF?!?!" reaction, in the best kind of way.
I was overall pleasantly surprised by this movie.

Very cool movie. It's very faithful to the short story, in fact when i watched it i thought it was pretty much exactly how i pictured it in my mind when i was reading it. Except i thought Mrs. Carmodie should've been an older actress. The ending was just brutal, it surprised me as that's pretty much the only thing they changed from the short story. Very dark, although really the story's ending is actually worse in proportion.

Hated the ending, so it soured the whole movie for me. I'll be sticking to the short story.

Yea I saw this Movie opening weekend and an audience full of people clapped when: {Spoiler}Mrs. Carmodie was killed. They did such an amazing job with this characters, I don't usually get that invested into a movie.

Watching it in black and white makes it even better.
I love the short story and the ending to the movie. King has said he wished he had thought of that ending himself.

Awesome movie, and was easy to get emotionally involved.
The ending, wow... just wow.

Yeah the ending was just brutal. I haven't watched it since because. Personally I wanted to see more monsters. I cheered at {Spoiler}the crazy religious lady getting killed. Great moment.

Recently re-watched it. Considering the general public, I'd call this one of the most underrated movies I can think of. Great understated performances, effective suspense building and mystery... ...and that ending. {Spoiler}Watching it again, I found myself get really emotional as soon as the group drives away from the store in the jeep. I knew what was coming, and it felt like it was wringing every second out of it. Then, the one-two punch of the murders and the very end actually caused me to scream and yell in impotent frustration and sadness. I don't think any movie has evoked such a visceral reaction from me, just a pure emotional reaction that isn't really crying or cheering. I love The Mist.

One of the best horror movies in recent memory. You don't usually see characters this interesting in a horror film, and Mrs. Carmody is an absolutely incredible villian.
And of course, there's always the ending. One of the most ingeniously brutal things I've ever seen. I still have trouble watching it to this day.

The best part of the ending is that it subverts the ending of the book in the best way possible.
One thing I didn't like was the whole religious sacrificing sect seemed a tad over blown, I felt the same way in the short story and the flick really brought that out even more so. I realize that people do crazy things in crazy situations, but this just felt like they turned to cannibalism three hours after a plane crash in a manner of speaking.

Well, a plane crash you can rationalize, something like this you can't, with no answers the people turned to the only person who was making any sense at all. Few coinky dinks later, you got a blood mob.

The ending was f***ing insane in the best way. {Spoiler}Kinda interesting, the crazy lady was right. The mist cleared right after the boy died like she said.

The ending totally ruined the movie for me and I don't ever want to watch it again. But up to that point, I thought it was a great movie.

It's up there with Eden Lake as far as an ending punching you in the nuts.

I liked the ending up until the point where {Spoiler}The military shows up 2 seconds later. Yeah, it sort of makes you think if the crazy lady was right all along but it was just too Twilight Zoney for me.

I always get this confused with 'The Fog'. Was this the movie based on a Stephen King story?

Fantastic movie, loved it.
I really lol'd at the ending. ;D
Stephen King said he wasn't sure about what Darabont wanted to do to change the ending, but trusted him to do it.....and loved it when he saw it.
