You know what bothers me even more than that. People who rant about people hating on things, like someone hating Twilight makes it impossible for someone to still like it. Just because tons of people hate wrestling doesn't mean I can't enjoy it. I mean - what's up with that?

I've always laughed about this. Someone mentioned the Backstreet Boys back in the day and it's so true. I used to have to deal with this every day. I wasn't running around blasting their music and squealing in everyone's ear about how great they are, I was just happily going on my merry way. But all the time, I'd hear lip from fans of other types of music (most of which I also liked, since anyone who knows me knows I like just about all kinds of music) about how awful what I liked was and how I didn't like "real music". All sorts of inane, judgmental, immature crap that was totally unprompted and unsolicited.
It always struck me as funny on more than one level - first, it showed how much they actually cared about the thing they were screaming they didn't care about. When I don't care for something or about the people who do like it, I just go about my business. Live and let live. It's only when I care that I spend any time on something. So for something they thought was a waste of time, they sure did spend a lot of time and energy on it.
Second, they thought their constant whinging about something they didn't like and insulting people who do made them seem like some sort of advanced, mature music fan when all it did was make them seem really, really childish.

I think a lot of the "better than Bieber," etc. is coming from the frustration of feeling like the music that person likes is overlooked while the current culture is in love with something the person feels is vastly inferior.

While possibly true, 9 times out of 10 those are the same people who look down on those who took so long to find their band or criticize the artist they like for selling out when they finally do get the mainstream on their side. And still, their feeling that it's vastly inferior is still just an opinion. I'm not trying to be whatever, I just think things would be a lot more pleasant in general if some people learned that their opinions are not facts nor does it make them "smarter" and that someone not sharing that opinion doesn't give them carte blanche to be rude.

I honestly think that if (insert real musician here) was as popular as Bieber, they'd hate them too.

Maybe that means they're so good that nobody wants to give up the copy they have! Eh? Eh? That's very possible. As amazing as they are, I would gladly give up my Dickies CDs if it meant one more person could enjoy and appreciate them.

Does anybody else find it hilarious how they go out of their way to show their hatred, more than fans show their appreciation? This...this is not entirely true. Just look at some of the more persistent bronies and Twi-lites.

As a perennial hater, I take offense to such allegations.

Still, they're often the lesser of the two evils. I see it more of a two stage thing. They both can be annoying but at different times. It starts off with the fans shoving their love of something in everybody's faces. And then the retaliation sets in by the victims.

That's exactly how I go about it. I could really give a damn if someone likes something that I don't like. If someone likes an artist that I don't like, good for them. They choose to listen to such artist/band, fine.
