Did it ever occur to you how similar these two movies are? Think about it. Pretty boy cop infiltrates a group of robbers with a very charismatic leader who happen to do some sort of thrill seeking (Surfing and street racing), gets sweet with the leader's ex/sister, there happens to be a rival gang involved and the cops/FBI busts them instead of the main gang they're after. Also, the cop lets go of the prime suspect in the end.
Personally, I like both films, but I didn't realize how similar they were until I read an article one day and it makes sense. The difference is that TFaTF had sequels whereas Point Break didn't. Of course, I can't imagine what kind of fate Johnny Utah would have endured since he let Bodhi go, unlike with Brian who went on the run, got a chance to work for the FBI, only to break out the guy he let go and then flee the country to do some big heist. Not that any potential Point Break sequel would have done the same thing, but I wonder what a sequel would have been like.

Yea, but Fast & The Furious had NOS!!!, which makes any car go super fast by pushing a button.

Yeah, I read that comparison somewhere a few years ago. Sequels: Break Points, Pointing Break and Breaking Point.

It's the same movie, they weren't even pretending they weren't ripping off every plot point.

My dad mentioned it to me the first time he saw FatF. He said he liked the movie just as much as he liked the version where they surfed.

It's also quite similar to a Chinese film called "The Legend of Speed 2", right down to one of the characters dying horribly. Also the same usage of NOS throughout. The Legend of Speed 2 came first. Crazy eh.

They were pretty similar, except Point Break was kind of good.

I forget, was there a Busey character in Fast? Ted Levine's character is probably the closest to it. Maybe not a partner like Busey was, but still a veteran cop. Thom Barry's character was like John C. McGinley's character, though not nearly as much of an asshole as John C. McGinley's character.

fatf didn't have nixon mask. Therefore, Point Break>>fatf Fast and the Furious had Jordana Brewster though, and Point Break had Lori Petty. I'd give it to FATF on that one. But Point Break had Keanu Reeves firing his gun into the air while yelling.
