This is the number one reason why I hate using online shopping. There is no casual way to browse online. If I know what I want then it is incredibly simple and useful. I want the Original Godzilla movie? type in Godzilla 1954 and bingo there it is easy as pie. But If I don't know what I want then it's just not engaging enough, clicking next page at a series of text. Ideally I need a website that looks like a dvd display rack like you find in shops and when I click on the dvd I want the case pops out infront of the main screen with the back and front of the box and price and that is it. So yeah, for buying on a whim online shopping is fairly rubbish. Rant over ...

This is why I feel like the brick-and-mortar bookstore is never going to go away, even if nationwide chains do wind up doing so.
If B&N or Books-A-Million follow the same path that Borders do, I feel like the regional chains like Schuler's would wind up picking up the slack; with less stores, it'd be easier to stay afloat especially if you know you're in a market that can support them like university towns.
Because browsing on Amazon is NOTHING like walking into a Borders.
