So this past weekend my college group's second dog and my first officially became a full fledged service dog and was assigned to his new owner and family. He is a skilled companion dog and his new owner is a 20 year old woman with cerebral palsy. We got to go up to the Long Island facility and present him to her and her mother at the graduation ceremony. We also heard that Whit was several people's first preference when they were trying to determine which dog would go to which person. Isn't he handsome? Also, we got some bonding time before the ceremony.

That's Great! Your dog is very cute. I live in LI, and am surprised I haven't heard about this.

Canine Companions for Independence has their North-East Regional Headquarters on Long Island. They provide service dogs free of charge to qualified people/organization depending on what the dog needs to do. www.cci.org
